About me

Greetings, my name is Zan and D&D is the game I run. When you play games with me you can expect hand drawn maps, unique NPCs and some silly voices. An immersive roleplaying experience is possible but entirely depends on session 0 expectations. I like to world build with creative input from players so a large part of session 0 is spent collaboratively world building your character into the campaign. This is especially true at the start of the adventures. Expect a lot of fun and silly roleplay, some interesting combat, and a few sprinkles of homebrew. I like experimenting with D&D 5e and mixing up the way we play the game to facilitate new ways of engagement. If you enjoy silly D&D games with lots of roleplay, fun mechanics and worlds fueled by your creativity then grab a seat and roll some dice!

GM Style

Style wise its silly and sincere roleplaying experiences. Players are meant to have fun and perform heroics across the world, all the while facing challenges and pursing their dreams. Player creativity and decision making is the genetic code which spawns adventures. Player character motivations are the momentum upon which adventures chug at full steam. NPCs can play major roles in the story as players move through the world but the story is always focused on the Players. Safety Tools: X N O cards, Session 0s, Lines and Veils, Open Door Maps are one of my favourite ways to experience D&D and many of the encounters feature custom battle maps and dungeons. Central to many of these maps is exploration, with combat playing the role of fun and interesting encounter, though for advanced players the tactical depth might leave more to be desired. Combat is focused on the cool moment and characterization of players and NPCs. Miniatures are the best which is why I like to use Hero Forge for custom miniatures. For VTTs like Tale Spire I can import custom Heroforge minis into the virtual table. Milestone or XP is agreed upon by players during session 0. Each type of leveling has its place and as such, I leave it to players to decide.
