How Patrick runs games
At my table, I try to encourage a player-centric experience. Characters need room to breathe, to expand, and grow, and I love giving that space to my players. I myself am not afraid to jump into voice and give life to NPCs, and I revel in the interplay between GM and player character. I don't necessarily expect my players to jump into a character voice, but I absolutely welcome it if they feel comfortable doing so! Like roleplay, combat at my table needs to be centered around character defining moments. I run my combat tactical and crunchy, and my players will face real in-game consequences based on the outcome. I try to surprise my players, test their mettle, and reward their victories!

I think it's a red flag when players...
It's a red flag when players insist on becoming the main character at a table. Every player deserves the opportunity to shine, and to have their moment "on screen." When one player seeks to dominate the conversation, I address it privately, and work to highlight my quieter players.
I think metagaming...
Metagaming, in my opinion, takes on two forms. Openly discussing strategy out-of-character at the table during combat or important roleplay exchanges is entirely fair and should be welcome. Openly discussing or exploiting plot spoilers from modules or existing campaigns is never acceptable.
My perfect party mix is
My perfect party mix, if ever there was one, would follow one of three established tropes: - "The Five Man Band" - Leader, foil lieutenant, support, powerhouse, heart - "The Ragtag Bunch of Misfits" - "The Seven Magnificent Samurai" In each party, each player can fit into a clearly set role!
