About Eras Volteal

I'm Eras Volteal, or more commonly known to people as just Volteal. I love telling character-focused stories and writing fantasy fiction, especially in collaboration with other people! My games are narrative & roleplay forward, focusing on cool player character moments, social encounters, and cinematic wuxia action scenes. Weaving your character's backstory, goals, and ambitions into the plot to really make it their adventure. My goal is to create a unique story for our table. Because yes, your characters are the main characters of these stories. I'm very fond of cool character moments and reward creative problem-solving. At my table, I give rewards to those who create opportunities for others to have cool moments. I am in the Central European Time zone, and I typically host games in the early evening for people in the United States. I have a very unusual schedule.

How Eras Volteal runs games

Player character-driven narratives. That's my focus, and that is what I am best at. My stories are not complete sand boxes but player characters have a high level of agency and can dictate the course of my games. I typically work with plot beats and character moments rather than fully written paragraphs and scenes. I might have maybe 2–3 pre-written sections for a session, and the rest is bullet points of information I need, and my improvisation skills. My voice acting is still a work in progress, but getting better!

My games focus on...

Roleplay first. While there will be battles, my games emphasize the connections between characters and their surroundings. I often center many of my games, particularly Exalted, around in-universe politics.

Rules are...

Exist as a guideline and shouldn’t be followed to the letter to the detriment of fun. If a rule hinders the table's enjoyment, I'll change it.

Eras Volteal's ideal table

This might sound odd, but I feel that my ideal table is just good-natured people getting together for a few hours of fun. A focus on role-play between me and them, and of course, each other. It feels nice to sit back and just watch the players role-play together. I think that is one of the best moments for me, watching others get lost in their fun. A good dose of out of character fun and joking is important too, of course.

I love it when a player

Gets creative with the scenery. Throw a candle to distract an enemy before throwing a punch! Initiate the fight with a stomp on the bench's edge, followed by a strike to the guard's groin. Swing from a chandelier to drop-kick the evil monk! If it's cool or even a little risky, do it. I will roll wit
