About Peter Newman
Hello, my name is Peter! I'm 22 and I've been GMing at tables and briefly over camera during the time of the zoom usage spike, since 2016. Being a forever GM for my friends for 9 years. I went to College for Game Design, drawn by my passion for user-facing systems like worldbuilding and narrative. And fell in love with immersion and user feedback. I love to play with narrative structures like the harmon circle, three act, or save the cat and mix them up with classic tropes in unique ways and see how the stories surrounding each hero interacts with others in roleplay and combat.

My favorite books are
Name of the Wind/Patrick Rothfuss is a huge influence on me and my style as a GM. I'm also a huge Brandon Sanderson and Andrew Rowe fan! I love fast-paced adventure sagas and interesting and unique magic systems.
How Peter Newman runs games
I like to check with my players before every session to find out what they enjoy in making their narratives. Either by form or if a small group just by asking them. I like to switch it up and push my comfort zone in order to improve! From previous times GMing I have heard from players that they enjoy the amount of time and detail that is included in roleplay to be able to get into their character's mindset. And combat feels rewarding seeing the character you created truly kicking monster butt. As for how much roleplay or combat I usually have: I have noticed that during the exposition, conflict, some of rising action and falling action, and resolution are usually roleplay-oriented. And combat is sprinkled in as conflict rises depending on the length of the session and length of individual battles. But the golden ratio I've found is about 50-50 of each. But it definitely changes from group to group.
Peter Newman's ideal table
Ideally my table is made up of people that want the same thing from their experience. Goofy and silly or serious players though, we'll find a good mix to hopefully keep everyone happy!
