About me
Hey, I'm Miko—Dad, Game Master, Crazy Cat Caretaker, Data Ninja, Advocate of Positive TTRPG Experiences, Ally, Streamer, Producer, and Co-founder of Folk&Myth (https://folkandmyth.com)—a storyteller, world-builder, and lover of collaborative roleplay. With over 30 years of experience in tabletop role-playing games, I’ve developed a deep passion for creating immersive and engaging stories where players can lose themselves in the narrative, explore rich worlds, and shape the direction of the game through their characters' choices. One of my greatest joys as a GM is watching characters come to life at the table. I believe that role-playing games are at their best when the story is created collaboratively, with each player contributing to the shared world in their own unique way. My strengths lie in character-driven role-playing, atmospheric world-building, and imaginative encounters that challenge players both strategically and creatively. I love crafting stories that are filled with intrigue, suspense, and the occasional twist, all while leaving plenty of room for humor and the unexpected. I take pride in creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space at my table, where everyone’s voice is heard, and every player can express themselves freely. Over the years, I’ve introduced hundreds of new players to the world of TTRPGs, guiding them as they expand their understanding of the limitless possibilities the game offers. My approach is always focused on having fun and exploring creativity, rather than getting bogged down by rules and systems. Whether you’re a seasoned player or completely new to role-playing games, my goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable, empowered, and ready to dive into the story. Improvisation is one of my key strengths as a GM, allowing me to adapt the narrative on the fly and tailor the experience to the players. From crafting original content and memorable NPCs to personalizing the story to suit each player's character arc, I strive to make every session feel unique and meaningful. I also emphasize inclusivity because I deeply value the shared experience of storytelling. I understand the privilege that comes with being a GM, and I aim to create an open, welcoming environment where everyone can have fun and feel included in the storytelling process. GM Style
As a Game Master, I strive to create immersive and inclusive games where every player feels valued and their contributions to the story matter. My style focuses on crafting engaging narratives that adapt to player choices, ensuring that the journey is as important as the destination. Whether we're delving into high fantasy, navigating dark, gritty modern settings, or exploring the unknown in science fiction, I aim to make the game feel dynamic and full of suspense, intrigue, and triumph. I love the challenge of running a variety of systems—from classics like Dungeons & Dragons and Shadowrun to more niche games like Daggerheart and Coriolis. My homebrew world, Ysterra, has been a labor of love and serves as a rich backdrop for many of my campaigns, blending magic and technology in a setting that allows for creative, unpredictable adventures. Whether hosting a small private session or running games at major conventions like GenCon and GaryCon, my goal is to create unforgettable experiences that balance seriousness with humor, giving players room to explore, grow, and succeed.

From brand new, first-time role-players to grizzled veterans of the Tomb of Horrors, true thespians to some guy who likes puns and improv, Miko has DM'd and had fun with them all. I've played with Miko for many years, in short-form and long-form gaming, and it's always been a blast. He's run more standard D&D campaigns (with some must-use Homebrew rules) and more indie, experimental games with ease, and with focus on building a world that is vibrant and responsive to your characters, along with plot hooks and storylines crafted specifically to your character. It's hard to just click three of the traits to describe Miko, as I feel like they'd all apply! I am certain you'll have a fantastic
I have played in several games including current long running campaign with Miko and the amount of care put into his stories is amazing. He prioritizes player agency with frequent check in and adheres to any and all lines and veils. Sitting at Mikos table is the most comfortable and entertaining I have sat at to date. I highly recommend him to anyone!
Miko was the DM for our in-person campaign which lasted about a year. The players(4 then a 5th joined mid-campaign) were all new and he excelled at gently pushing us out of our comfort zone into actually roleplaying. It helps that he is quick to un-selfconsciously act out an NPC and encourages player communication to be In Character. He was totally game for rolling with the chaos of where our characters pulled the story, including one character storming off(understandably, sorry Rinn!) because the rest of the party were being dicks, and us doubling back to pick up on a thread we totally missed the previous session. The finale of our campaign was suitably epic.
Miko is such a wonderful GM. I have played with him many times, and there is good reason for continuing to play in his games. Miko is a very knowledgeable GM and is an excellent teacher, so newcomers are in good hands. He is a fantastic storyteller and worldbuilder, so his games are rich with vibrant history. One of the things that I have appreciated is Miko's willingness to help players create characters that work for a game's themes and setting. He is also committed to making his games inclusive and safe - he uses safety tools that are easy to use in game and that set a group up to know how to play together other without issue. I highly recommend playing games with Miko!
Miko brings years of experience to the table, a deep and thorough knowledge of the rules, and a habit of doing tons of prep for a game. He has a strong focus on player safety, and a knack for crafting engaging storylines, rich worlds, and layered characters. His strong suit is forging meaningful connections between colorful NPCs and the PCs, and making sure everyone at the table has a moment to shine. I'd strongly recommend playing in his games!
