About me
I started playing TTRPG's when I was 11. Started GM'ing for friends before I turned 13. Games I've run: D&D: 3, 3.5, 4 & 5th editions Pathfinder: 1e NWOD: Vampire, Mage, Werewolf Star Wars: FFG, Saga, TSR GURPS: 4e I've run a few 5+ year campaigns in multiple systems. I've had 2 campaigns in 5e go to 18+. Authors I've read that inspire me, in no particular order: Dr. Aleron Kong - The Land (you should read these books) Dakota Krout - Ritualist Chronicles Brandon Sanderson - Mistborn Neil Gaimen - Sandman (and everything else he's done) Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson Kristen Brittan - Green Riders Orison Scott Card - Enders Game series Christopher Paolini - Eragon KA Applegate - Animorphs TA Baron - Lost Years of Merlin series Tolkien - that one series, you know, they made some movies about it. (yes there are children's authors on here, deal with it) Movies: Knights of Bad@$$dom Lord of The Rings Onward Inception Jumper Push Limitless Fright Night Jennifer's Body My views: - I can rules lawyer with the best of them, but Rule of Cool has a secure place at the table. - We all come to the table wanting to tell a story, its the GM's Job to make sure everyone has those opportunities for the characters to shine. It's the players Job to let them. - Someone's twitter account is not RAW or RAI. If its in a book and there's a discrepancy its for the GM to make a call on. Rules discussions are NOT for during Game. They can be done in a side channel before or after game. - What player characters can do so can NPC's. Funny thing the DMG has NO restrictions on how many Feats a CR 1 creature can have. - If its a talking point on a news channel, it doesn't belong at the table. Politics, Religion, Famous person doing XYZ. save it for a different venue.
GM Style
I try to use what best suits the players. I cut my teeth as a DM/GM/ST in D&D 3e and Vampire LARP. However, I am a huge fan of fun over friction, so I make fast rulings to keep the game going. I have been running D&D for over 25 years, helped develop character sheets for multiple other gaming systems, and try to keep my players entertained. I have some experience with Roll20, so that is my preferred tabletop. Do you love roleplay? I like listening to a table banter back and forth In-Character. If its not something the table is doing, I tend to shy away from it myself. Great with character voices? I can be for important characters. Do you enjoy crunchy tactical combat? Yes. combat puzzles are fun. ;') Its quite INSPIRATIONAL to get the whole table laughing and talking. players that can do that help build momentum at the game will find luck rolling their way more often. Crafty players who use things in ways that inspire others also find their luck trend better.
