About Taletreader

Hi, I'm Tale! Storytelling is my passion. My roleplaying addiction began in middle school when I discovered Vampire: The Masquerade, and over twenty years later I'm still crafting worlds and characters to explore. These games let us explore identities, ask questions, and experience adventures that we'd never get to have in our daily lives. That's the point, and that is what I love about rpgs. I believe in collaborative storytelling, where your character's life, interests, and relationships directly inform the story's twists and turns. I'm a professional actor, having spent my career traveling North America with Broadway musicals. I love studying characters and bringing them to life, from the ones we see every session to the merchant who pops up just for one memorable scene. The worlds I create live and breathe; everyone has motivations, complex desires, and deep flaws. These characters don't just exist in the scenes where they appear, they're constantly working for (or against!) the player characters behind the scenes to make these stories feel immersive and real. Although I sometimes take inspiration from published adventures, I really enjoy creating stories that are bespoke to the players and the characters they bring to the table.

How Taletreader runs games

My approach to GMing begins with creating stories. Characters, scenes, systems, and dice rolls are supporting actors in the tales we tell together. This storytelling is collaborative-- we make it together, which means I'm listening to you and letting you guide the myriad twists and turns we experience in each chapter. My role is to present your characters with a circumstance, see how they react to and solve the circumstance, then use those reactions to directly influence what comes next.
