About Svelter

Hi Everyone, I'm Svelter! A long time DM and TTRPG enjoyer, I've been playing for over 20 years and dming for more than 15 and I love bringing high quality games to people to enjoy. These games are genuinely one of the most important things to me and I want to be able to share that with others. The games I run tend to have a high depth of plausibility and due to my age combined with my gaming history, I manage to deliver games that feel authentically old fashioned while still being an accessible experience. I tend to specialize in games that have a very dedicated time frame and the pacing of my games while structured, is largely up to my players choices. Multicultural beliefs, realistic takes on conflicts and an emphasis on a nuanced tone that I provide gives an immersive feeling that you tend to take with you, and I consider it a personal accomplishment when my players cant stop thinking about my games when they're not playing them at the time.

I ran my first game...

Ive been running games my entire life! I played my first at 5 and ran my first at 10.

I started running games because...

It means a lot to me to bring this method of storytelling to a diverse number of people. whilst still preserving the integrity of the mediums strengths.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Always in dungeons! Its Dungeons and Dungeons for me... help.

How Svelter runs games

Flexible in combat and roleplay aspects. Providing in depth support for strong narrative content as well as patience for new players. I bring a vast array of classic tools to a modern table consisting of a uniquely solidified fantasy experience. My games tend to be on the more serious side, but not without brevity. I would advise individuals under 18 not to join my sessions as adult content and horror themes often accompany my execution of the Sword and Sorcery genre of games.

I once ran a session...

I'm very proud of my ability to run combats of 30+ tokens and sessions exclusively of social encounters and making them equally functional and exciting.

My games focus on...

Authenticity. Not realism, but rather consistency. I like my worlds to feel lived in, robust and full of culture. Every door is a story and every choice matters, both in front of you and in the world around you. Everything should be accounted for to make the game feel as immersive as possible.

Rules are...

Consistent. Once a ruling is made it applies always and should work both ways. The hardest part of a dms job is to remain the radically neutral arbiter they're meant to be.

Svelter's ideal table

My games while historical and tasteful are often mature, and not for the squeamish. While I have detailed discretionary warnings, it is absolutely true that if you can face the horror the splendor is all the more worthwhile.

I love it when a player

Is fully immersed and engaged with the world. I encourage collaborative backstories and love working to finely tune any and every detail you want to portray in the character.

I think metagaming...

A DM should ideally: Control information delivery so the information characters know matches what players know. Change aspects of the game regularly to keep them fresh. Monsters with unique circumstances and mechanics eliminates this quickly!

I think min/maxing...

Is valid. Making characters that are strong is fine, but they should fit into the setting, the circumstances and the time. I run games that can be considered difficult. Making strong characters is fine and can be refreshing.
