About Steven Johnson
Hey, hey people! Steven here. I'm your fellow human, ttrpg enthusiast and possibly future Game Master. I've been in this hobby for a while now, not quite a decade but getting there. I am what can be scientifically classified as a "Forever GM". I have hosted games for friends I knew since school, strangers on the internet and on one instance, even co-workers. As a progression of the above, I am now going to host games on this platform as well. I would not say I am a hardcore fan of any particular media, but I appreciate art and beauty wherever I find it, from novels to games, from music to anime. If memory servers me right I got into DnD because of a song too, a very inspiring one. I try to capture a fraction of that beauty in my games as well, so we can live through those moments of inspiration too, not only admire them from afar.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...
meticulous, funny and a little crazy. I like to joke around and bring levity to conversations.
How Steven Johnson runs games
I value fairness above all else in my games. Fairness towards you as the player, to enjoy the game you are playing, fairness towards your fellow players, who want to enjoy the game as well, and fairness towards the game itself, wherever the dice might lead us. Another core value at my tables is freedom. You may choose to play the game however you like, although I encourage player cooperation to reach your goals. But with the freedom to succeed, I also give my players the freedom to fail, spectacularly. Some of the most fond memories my players made were not only of Nat 20s, but also Nat 1s and how they got out of the trouble they created. I try keep sharp with my world-building and have it react to player actions. As for combat, I don't run it too hard. You will struggle a bit, but definitely won't need super strong builds to win.

My favorite trope is...
The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries. Okay, maybe it's not a trope, but it's a fascinating deconstruction of common Villain tropes.
