About Richard Ryan

Who doesn't love being an amazing hero/anti-hero/warrior/etc.? The thing is: You need more than just a character sheet with awesome numbers on it. You need a setting to be in that has vibrant details, vicious adversaries, vast landscapes, vintage artifacts, and maybe even the odd voluptuous tavern maid.

I became a GM because

A.D.D. often allows me to think about my campaigns waaay more often than normal people do... or even 'can' in some cases. Crafting a whole world is tough, and I feel people deserve a GM who can hit the ground running.

How Richard Ryan runs games

The Theater of the Mind is great because with the right words and maybe one or two photoshopped visual aids Your mind is faster than any CPU, and your imagination has more resolution than the very best Graphics Cards out there. That being said, a Virtual Table Top goes a long way to bring everyone onto the same page in terms of where the team is, where the bad guys are, where's the nearest cover... Give me the Big Chair at the table and I will weave a story for you that you'll have to deliberately fight in order to refuse to enjoy yourself.

I deal with rules issues by...

...spending an average of 3 minutes or less cross-checking the rules, and if an answer isn't forthcoming: The Rule of Cool.
