I became a GM because
I enjoy telling stories and seeing how players react. I look forward to running my local campaign every week.
My favorite books are
The Mistborn Trilogy, The Stormlight Archive, and anything by Steven King.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Trying to read through the entire Marvel comics collection in chronological order. I'm pretty far.
How ShinyHobo runs games
I like to run my games with tactical combat, rugged survivalism, funny voices, complex story integration, and some minor homebrew.
Featured Prompts
I deal with rules issues by...
Hashing it out with the players democratically; I don't mind bending the rules if the end result is a more fun experience.
I prep by
Using a campaign bible to keep track of all the events that have transpired and possible future events that players might encounter. The beginning of each session starts with a retelling of the previous by a player to get everyone back on board.
My favorite trope is...
Characters with rhyming names because I'm sometimes bad at coming up with them on the fly.
ShinyHobo's ideal table
My table meets on Discord, uses Kenku for music and ambience, plays the game in Tabletop Simulator, and uses Foundry VTT for character sheets and combat tracking. Players that get invested in their characters and the world they live in are a must. The general vibe is a casual, creative, and free form experience with some minor homebrew and a detailed world. If you enjoy story telling in this way, my table is for you.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Vast interconnecting and personal stories spanning numerous campaigns simultaneously.
I love it when a player
Does something really unexpected with a piece of equipment or spell to solve a thorny problem, and when they have epic roleplay moments expressing real emotion.
I think min/maxing...
Is fine in certain settings, but I prefer to run games where your characters are just people living in a world where stuff happens around them.
