About Saoirse
You found me! Well done~. I've recently left a corporate career to focus on my creative pursuits and take better care of my family. I've spent more than a decade telling stories with my friends, and now... I'd like offer my talents to others—make new friends, author new experiences, and help my wife with our mortgage. So, here we are—you're yearning to play in a game which satisfies, and I'm looking for people to delight. Let's answer some questions. 1. Who are you, exactly? I'm Faye!~ A woman in her early thirties. I have a degree in English Literature, a minor in Religious Studies, and I've been an actress for much of my life. I did a stint in healthcare software implementation. I've also lived abroad in China and Ireland. 2. Why would I play at your table? Most crucially: my tables are *small*. I do not believe it's possible to make everyone a meaningful part of the narrative with 6+ players. I have an excellent sense for when people are engaged and what they need to remain engaged. Each person should get many moments in the limelight. I draw from a deep well of genre experience to present famous tropes in my own way and make them anew at the table. If you'd like more perspective, you can read my reviews! 3. What are your politics? I'm a transgender woman. My existence is inherently political, so—to be completely transparent—I stand with the powerless, the dispossessed, and the diverse. My games aren't about modern politics, but if we're going to become friends and tell stories together, I want you to know where my heart abides. 4. How do you communicate with players? I have a Discord server for potential/current players! You have access to me throughout the week (while the sun is shining). 5. Do you use AI assets? I avoid AI assets as a general rule. If I accidentally use AI character art, I apologize. Players are welcome to use AI assets for their own characters. ________________________ PRIVATE PARTIES If you'd like to hire me for your friend group or for a duet/solo game, I'm open to running any adventure you'd like! My rate for private parties will depend on how much preparation and reading/research I need to do to run the game. Inquire away~.

I became a GM because
I wanted to tell fantasy stories with my close friends. I've always been improvising stories, from early childhood on, and was delighted to learn there's a *hobby* for it! I'm also a strategy enthusiast, so the wargame aspect of tabletop appeals to me.
I got started GMing...
In university. I co-founded the Tabletop Society at Northwestern. I ran dozens of games for new students, onboarding them to various systems.
When I'm not running games I'm...
...preparing meals for my partner, playing with our cats, immersed in media, or brewing a cup of coffee.
How Saoirse runs games
After thousands of hours pretending to be elves and dragons, here's what I can say—I enjoy drama. I love to paint vibrant NPCs and embody them vocally/physically. I love complex combats where something meaningful is at stake. I do not enjoy long lulls in suspense or piddling around. Expect me to apply constant dramatic pressure to the party to keep things kinetic. Each person at the table should be actively engaged and conscientious. They should understand their character and plan for their turns. I'm happy to coach people to get them playing efficiently, but a key element of maintaining narrative tension is having everyone's heart in the current scene. My public games will never have more than five players. I've found that to be the sweet spot for giving each person enough time to express themselves and walk away satisfied. To answer more particulars: 1. I voice characters! I'm an actress, albeit not a professional one. I do not require players to voice their own character; that's entirely up to you. 2. I'm open to custom character options tailored to the campaign. That said, balance is important to me, so I prefer leveraging existing character options to creating new ones. 3. I will not kill player characters without player consent. Death is often the *least* interesting consequence for defeat. 4. I will modify adventure paths/prewritten adventures to my tastes. Expect something new!

My favorite trope is...
When allies you've gathered throughout the campaign arrive to help you in the final hour. Especially unexpected allies!
My games focus on...
Putting the characters in scenes where they make choices, face conflict, and express who they are. I view running the game like directing a film—setting up a sequence of scenes which maintain interest throughout.
Rules are...
Rules provide friction and form, which is good! Expect me to be very knowledgeable about rules. That said, rules are meant to serve the table—the table does not serve the rules. I'll make judgements and exceptions, when needed, to preserve immersion, challenge, and fun.
Saoirse's ideal table
My table is a playful place. I love how tabletop games create opportunities for humor. The darker the story, the more those moments of laughter and levity stand out. Expect themes of romance, too! Your character doesn't need to fall in love—the majority don't—but fantasy is more resonant when some characters are motivated by love, sex, or both.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Dangerous women~.
I love it when a player
...wants to be involved in the world—to have friends, rivals, family, and more! Characters should have motivations which go beyond the adventure at hand.
I think min/maxing...
...is wonderful! I'm happy to adjust the challenge of encounters to suit the party. That said, if one character is out of sync with the rest of the party's power level, we'd talk about it.
