About Samuel
I love storytelling and I love games, I started GMing in 2019 with my friends and had to transition to playing online due to scheduling and a friend moving away. I would like to have more D&D in my life, and I'd love to be able to play more.

I became a GM because
I love storytelling, creating characters and places and string them together in amazing stories. It is always a plus that in the game it's not only me building a story, but everybody in the table does so together.
My favorite books are
The Bartimaeus trilogy, Harry Potter, The pillars of the earth, Charlie and the chocolate factory, The cosmic trilogy, The neverending story...
My favorite shows/movies are
Loki, The chilling adventures of Sabrina, Forrest Gump, Inside Out, The neverending story, Infinity War + Endgame, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Shang Chi, Spider man no way home...
How Samuel runs games
I like worldbuilding and love trying to make characters feel alive and dynamic. I love player interaction and roleplaying.

I deal with rules issues by...
Discussing how the rule is written out with the table, and share a conversation about how to adapt the rules if there is ambiguity in the writing. But rules that are bent are not only to be used by the characters... but also against them.
My games focus on...
Exploring and roleplaying, combat encounters, puzzles and other challenges are always laced with roleplaying.
Rules are...
A guideline to give the game some balance and consistency, but no rule is set in stone.
Samuel's ideal table
I love a player who will consistently ask questions for the story to come alive. Interact with the environment or with characters (NPCs or character-owned). I rather have players who chare less about minmaxing the game mechanics, and focus more on playing and developing their characters.

I love it when a player
Continuously asks questions, and reacts to the information given to develop their characters, or the shared story further.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Have "main character syndrome". In a game where group storytelling is the core and backbone of it all, believing oneself the center of it all defeats the purpose and draws enjoyment out of the game for everyone else.
I think min/maxing...
Is not as gratifying as roleplaying. In some ways it takes away the fun and flexibility of playing a game where entropy and randomness are at the core of it. I feel minmaxers can have much more fun playing videogames, like Baldur's Gate, Diablo, World of Warcraft, and many others.
