About Roland

Name: Roland Biggerstaff (sometimes Russell or Tuzzdeny) Age: Medium well done. (60's) Location: Jacksonville, Florida Gaming Experience: I began gaming on a sand table with Napoleonic & WWII miniatures (lead). But then I fell in love with D&D & Chainmail around 1975, and I started running a campaign right away. I survived the Satanic Panic by mostly running Traveller. And from the early 80’s to the mid 90s I ran a variety of ongoing campaigns at wargame clubs, Game stores, BBS’s (pre-internet), and a coffee shop I owned for a while. I took a break from gaming around YTK. But I found the thunder of dice still calling to me, and I have just begun to explore Virtual tabletops. Hobbies/Interests: Playing and running games like D&D/Traveller/PF2e/Starfinder, Electronics (projects and radio), Irish Wolfhounds, Long Naps on the beach, (and misusing brackets) Likes: World peace (except in my games) Fun Fact: I’ve been working on the Railroad ...All the livelong day. Favorite Color: Red (it's easy to spell)

How Roland runs games

I like world-building and helping players discover their place in that world. This is a land of pretend, but I like the rules to be a vehicle for solid engagement. Luck plays a part in everything we do in a campaign, but you're not ruled by the dice but by your decisions. My games have a lot of tactical thought built into them and less role-playing (think of it as speaking of your character in the third person). Because we'll be playing more of theatre of the mind with tokens just to help us keep our place, I'll often ask you "what do you want to do?" instead of asking "what specific actions do you perform to open a chest". Each system I run is different, but you'll find my Artwork is bad, and I don't have any skill as a voice actor. But give me a try, and you might find some of the most engaging long-term play you have ever been a part of.
