About Riley

I’m Riley, a GM who believes the best stories happen when a solid plot meets a player’s wildest "What if?" My table is a space for players who want their choices to actually matter. I specialize in building "playgrounds" for your imagination—whether that’s a gritty, high-stakes mystery or a whimsical, lighthearted adventure. I’m not here to tell my story; I’m here to provide the world, the NPCs, and the spark of chaos that lets your story take flight.

I got started GMing...

Because I love the alchemy of collaborative storytelling. I wanted to create a space where online friends could get together, get a little nerdy, and see their choices actually reshape a world in real-time.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Creative, Adaptive, and Invested.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Advocating for sustainable living through my business, or diving into some media or books to find inspiration for our next session’s puzzles.

How Riley runs games

I pride myself on being a versatile storyteller. I can pivot from the dark and terrifying to the bright and absurd in a single session, depending on where the story leads us. Creative Problem Solving: I love it when players think outside the box. If you want to use a bag of holding for "unconventional" crowd control or design a unique mechanical fix for your character’s gear, my answer is usually: "Let's see how we can make that work." The Detective’s Edge: Drawing from my love of mystery and explorer media, I build puzzles that go deeper than simple riddles. Expect social "whodunnits," environmental investigations, and manhunts that reward players who pay attention to the details. Exciting Encounters: I like to bring challenging encounters to the table be it social or combat, so expect some challenge be it from creatures of D&D fame or my own custom creations carefully designed to tell stories and tuned to test your character's mettle.

I deal with rules issues by...

Prioritizing the flow of the story. I’ll make a quick call to keep the momentum going, always leaning toward the "Rule of Cool." We can dive into the manual after the session, but at the table, your fun and the narrative's stakes come first.

I prep by

Building "ecosystems" rather than scripts. I develop deep lore, unique monsters, and intricate plots, then I step back and let you loose. I prepare for your creativity, not just your combat.

Rules are...

The scaffolding of the game. They give us a common language to play in, but they should never be a cage. If a rule gets in the way of a legendary moment, we bend it.

Riley's ideal table

I run games for "future friends." I value teamwork, mutual respect, and a 50/50 balance between tactical challenges and meaningful roleplay. If you’re looking for a GM who is your character’s biggest fan and is always ready for a bit of creative rule-bending, you’ve found your seat.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

High-agency "what if" scenarios, social whodunnits, and a healthy mix of deep emotional beats and lighthearted shenanigans.

I love it when a player

Treats the world like it’s real. Whether it’s asking to integrate a piece of their backstory or trying a wild, creative solution to a puzzle—I am always your character’s biggest fan.

My table is not the place for...

"Winning" at the expense of others, forcing the story in a single direction, or being demanding. We’re here to build a story together, which means sharing the spotlight and respecting everyone’s fun.
