About Daz

I have been GMing for 6 years, D&D 5e for all 6, and Thirsty Sword Lesbians for the last 4. I ran a D&D club at my University, running weekly 7-8 person oneshots for 4 years and honestly? I miss it. Currently I run a lot of Thirsty Sword Lesbians at conventions in Melbourne, and I run D&D 5e at my 2 year long home campaign. I want to be able to run new and indie TTRPGs for as many people as possible to show them the vast wonders of what this hobby holds!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

D&D 5e, Triangle Agency and Beak, Feather and Bond. 5e for being the old reliable, Triangle Agency for it's depth and interesting ideas around corporate eldritch horror, and Beak, Feather and Bone to do some world building to pass the time!

My favorite system of all Time is

D&D 5e - wait, come back! It's because I think it does lots of things mediocrely, so it has something for everyone at a table - also, it has so much homebrew it's dead easy to find interesting ideas for sessions!

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

"has never not committed to a bit, deeply compassionate towards his players, and beautifully crafted, interconnected world building" - quote from player of a 3 year campaign.

How Daz runs games

I run roleplay heavy sessions where I encourage players to make interesting decisions to explore the world. I tend to write silly concepts seriously and then respond to players in kind. Whether it's a half hour conversation about the logistics of crab sex, or a 45 minute debate about the ethics of asking for permission from an animated object to take cheese from the moon, my goal as a GM is always to facilitate interesting stories - and somehow wrap it up in a nice little bow by the end.

I once ran a session...

where players had to go to the moon to get a dying Wallace (from Wallace and Gromit) his favourite cheese, where players had to throw increasingly crazy paper planes across a room, and then spent 45 minutes debating the ethics of making a wheel of cheese sentient to ask for it's consent to be eaten.

My games focus on...

the vibes. My goal is to have tables full of big emotions - I always want my players to have interesting conquences for their actions that makes them want to make big choices, just to see what happens.

Daz's ideal table

My favourite tables are when I'm not really required. Where players talk and bounce off each other, making interesting and engaging choices without input from me. The general vibe of my tables is lots of laughter, nonsense in-jokes that build on themselves to crazy degrees, and an almost nonsensical quotes channel that reading through leaves you in stitches

Featured Prompts

My table is not the place for...

Bringing down the vibe or rules lawyers. I'm a rule of cool guy, I don't really care what the rules say as long as you're making an interesting choice that supports engagement from other players!
