How Collin runs games

I like to bring a laid-back environment that fosters creativity, excitement, and humor. It is always a goal to get the players immersed into the story, and into the world in which they live. I pack it with lore, and characters with conflicting interests, an enticing story, challenging combat, and wacky social situations. I definitely allow room for home-brew so that you can get the role play you want. I want to work with you to give you the kind of playing experience you're looking for. Most importantly, i want you to have fun as you interact with the other people at the virtual table. What's most important to me is that people laugh ad enjoy themselves.

Collin's ideal table

The Vibe The general vibe at my table is collaborative and immersive, but also relaxed and fun. We take the game seriously in terms of narrative and character development, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Laughter, inside jokes, and good-natured banter are common. There's a strong emphasis on mutual respect among players and for the DM. We're all here to have a good time and craft an awesome story together. What My Table is Like My table is a place where storytelling and player agency are paramount. We lean heavily into the roleplaying aspect of D&D, focusing on character motivations, interactions, and the unfolding narrative. While combat is certainly a part of the game, it serves the story, rather than being the sole focus. Think of it as a collaborative novel or a shared improv session with dice rolls. Pacing: Sessions usually have a good mix of exploration, social interaction, and combat. We're not afraid to spend a significant portion of a session on a deep roleplaying encounter or investigating a mystery. Combat encounters can be intense and tactical. Campaign Style: I tend to run narrative-driven campaigns with a strong overarching plot, but with plenty of room for player characters to influence the direction of the story. Your character's backstory will likely be woven into the campaign's fabric. What Types of Players Will Fit Well? Players who thrive at my table often share these characteristics: * Roleplayers at Heart: You love getting into character, speaking in-character, and exploring your character's personality and growth. * Collaborative Storytellers: You enjoy building the world and narrative alongside the DM and other players, rather than just waiting for the next encounter. * Engaged and Attentive: You're present and focused during sessions, actively listening and contributing to the shared experience. * Respectful and Inclusive: You value a positive and welcoming environment for everyone at the table. * Creative Problem Solvers: You enjoy thinking outside the box, not just relying on combat to solve every challenge. * Comfortable with a Mix of Serious and Silly: You can appreciate dramatic moments but also enjoy a good laugh. * Flexible and Adaptable: You're comfortable with improvisation and the story taking unexpected turns based on player choices. What Types of Players Might Struggle? My table might not be the best fit for players who: * Are primarily focused on min-maxing or "winning" D&D (though optimization is fine, it's not the main goal). * Prefer pure dungeon crawls with little to no roleplaying. * Are rules lawyers who prioritize RAW over narrative flow. * Are disruptive or don't respect the collaborative nature of the game. Ultimately, my goal is to create a memorable and engaging D&D experience where players feel their choices matter and their characters come to life within a rich, evolving story.
