What Ho, adventurers! I'm JJ, I've been a Dungeon Master running campaigns and one-shots since I got the D&D 3.5e books in 2003. 20 years later, I'm still running weekly games. My experience as a DM ranges from the down-right bizarre such as an all-dwarven one-shot to save Santa, to more serious high-drama and high-fantasy multi-year campaigns.
I prefer a "young-adult, high-fantasy novel" style of storytelling, particularly the popular D&D settings of Eberron, Dragonlance, and the Forgotten Realms. I love epic adventures, heroic characters, and a generally optimistic tone. That’s not to say there can’t be a little drama or fear every now and then too… A priority is put on creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all the players at my table. This includes, where possible, avoiding elements that might make them uncomfortable, such as gore or overly descriptive scenes of sensitive topics. I try to have a player-centric approach, whereby I work to engage you to become deeply invested in your character, encouraging you to have the freedom to shape your character and engage with the narrative through a mix of role-playing, problem-solving, and combat challenges. This variety keeps the gameplay engaging and multifaceted, catering to the different player preferences around the table. While I enjoy role-playing and problem-solving, I also appreciate the use of dice-based mechanics, embracing some traditional tabletop RPG elements.
