About Pascal

Hello, I am Pascal (he/him). I am a game designer and have been GMing for over 25 years. I started with D&D, Star Wars, and VtM, switching to indie TTRPGs in 2018. I enjoy running Fate / Fate of Cthulhu, Trophy Dark, Psi*Run, Scum & Villainy, Apocalypse Keys, and Descended from the Queen games such as Ringmaster and Oh Maker. I run indie RPGs at conventions, online, and in person. I design games under Spotless Dice Games. I have published multiple supplements for Fate of Cthulhu and designed Ringmaster, a Descended from the Queen story game about a dark and supernatural circus. I am currently working on Remnants of Fate, a sci-fi existential horror game. You can find a review of my latest game, Ringmaster, at Cannibal Halfling Gaming (https://cannibalhalflinggaming.com/2025/06/09/ringmaster-review-a-circus-troupe-descended-from-the-queen/). I ran my first game...

when I was 12 years old, after borrowing my friend's AD&D Player's Handbook. It wasn't pretty but I learned a lot through high school, and began organizing and GMing at cons while in College. After multiple D&D editions and other trad RPGs, I switched to indie RPGs in 2018.

When I'm not running games I'm...

reading, writing ttrpgs and adventures, playing boardgames and enjoying time with my family.

How Pascal runs games

I enjoy challenging players, weaving their ideas and goals into the story, sharing the spotlight, and providing a satisfying conclusion. Safety and respect at the table are important to me. When running one-shots, I enjoy having strong beginnings, middles, and ends - ensuring that we wrap up to a good story ending within the assigned time. For mini-series and campaigns, I enjoy doing world-building, shaping broad story arcs influenced by the players and sub-plots based on PC goals and backstories.

Featured Prompts

I once ran a session...

at Origins teaching Fate. We created a Steampunk setting, unique characters and the players overcame both an imminent crisis and a looming threat in 3 1/2 hours to a satisfying conclusion. Several players were new to Fate and everyone had a blast.

Rules are...

a guide for our adventures. I am transparent if I allow an exception at the table because it makes the story better. If we want to change a rule moving forward, I like to discuss this at the start, end or between sessions with the table to come to an agreement, rather than during play.

Pascal's ideal table

I enjoy players who share the spotlight and respect others. I enjoy humour (in good taste), even during horror games, while respecting the overall concept and tone that the table agreed to. I welcome folks new to the hobby as well as veterans, and like to challenge characters & throw complications for an interesting story while being a fan of the players.

Featured Prompts

I love it when a player

leans into the story and complications created by missed rolls or their character's flaws. Setbacks make for great triumphant returns, and some stories are meant to have tragic endings.
