About Oshu

Well, look who rolled initiative....... My name is Josh I’ve been playing and GMing for a long time, and I genuinely love the game. I’m always thinking about D&D. Coming up with new mechanics, new stories, and new ways to make sessions feel fresh while still respecting the source material. I lean heavily into roleplay and improvisation, because I think the best moments at the table are the ones you don’t plan for. I love building immersive worlds and stories that really pull players in. If you want to play something a little strange or unexpected—like a Grung cowboy one session and a veteran from a forgotten war from another time the next—I’m happy to find a way to make it work if it serves the story. I enjoy playing with both new and experienced players. I’m always happy to help newcomers learn the game, and I love digging into backstories with players who want deep lore, personal stakes, and characters that feel real. At the end of the day, I just want everyone at the table to feel invested, comfortable, and excited to see what happens

I became a GM because

I wanted to play TTRPGs, but no one I knew was playing, and I didn’t really know where to start. So I picked up some D&D books, watched way too many YouTube videos, filled a lot of notebooks, and decided to run my own campaign.

My favorite shows/movies are

Shows Avatar the Last Airbender Black Mirror Owl House Dr Who Movies Everything Everywhere all at once Jojo Rabbit How to train your Dragon John Carter

How Oshu runs games

I like a good mix of combat, lore drops, and roleplay, with plenty of time around the campfire for casual conversations I like letting characters explore backstories, build trust, and just exist together in the world. I love both drama and comedy, and I’m a big fan of creative “rule of cool” moments when they make the story better. I’m comfortable running games in theater of the mind or on a visible battlefield, depending on what fits the scene best.

Oshu's ideal table

My table is lighthearted and fun. I love it when players are interested in each other’s backstories and when characters encourage one another to grow and succeed. Let's let others make their own choices bad or good. I want this to be an open conversation—about where you want your character’s story to go and what you’re excited to see in the game. Let’s build the story together and then let the dice take it from there. Will there be, betrayal, triumph, or even death? Let’s find out.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

heavy roleplay that makes you laugh, cry, and smile, a living world full of deep lore, and NPCs that feel real—sometimes funny, sometimes flawed, always memorable. Combat stays fresh with smart enemies that think, adapt, and push players toward strategy and creative solutions.

I love it when a player

allows there character to make mistakes, makes a character that cares about the world they live in, they choose to make decisions that push the story foward.

I think metagaming...

boring..... let the dice tell the story. There’s real beauty in making mistakes, in wrong choices, and in learning to grow from them. I don’t condone PvP, but I love when characters learn to trust each other through their actions and decisions, not because the story forces them to
