About Nevin
My name is Nevin and I've been my groups forever GM for as long as I can remember. When I got into TTRPGs back in high school I knew I had found something special, something I truly felt a calling for and loved to do. Ever since then I have been getting better and better at running my games and leading my friends through the fun, fights, fear, and high drama I create at my table. I recently made the switch from DnD 5th Edition to Pathfinder 2e and now feel ready to bring that fun to others through this platform! My style of play is heavily focused on atmosphere, immersion, and facilitating dramatic moments of tension and release. I roleplay most NPC interactions and love to delve into characters. I don't shy away from combat whatsoever and greatly enjoy challenging my players through consistent combat engagements. While a vast majority of the time I consult the rules to adjudicate my game, I also embrace going outside the box due to the rule of cool or to keep the game going at a good pace. I run my games through Foundry VTT, which includes maps, tokens, character sheets, and more. I've dedicated many hours towards making my games flow easily and efficiently using Foundry. For communication I use Discord. while I don't have a camera yet I plan on investing in one. Ever since finishing my first major campaign of Curse of Strahd I've been working diligently on a conversion of it into Pathfinder 2E. I love Curse of Strahd and want to share the horror with new players!

I got started GMing...
A friend of mine started running a game in highschool. I had no idea what DnD even really was! I had a ton of fun and later discovered Critical Role. Matthew Mercer was a huge influence on me as a DM and now I have great love for the hobby and have been running games since.
My favorite books are
'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy is a classic of American literature, dealing with many heavy tones and ideas. Other than that however, The Witcher series remains my favorite collection of fantasy by far, both it and the games influencing me greatly. You should give them a read.
My favorite system of all Time is
I started running games for 5th edition DnD, but have recently made the switch to Pathfinder 2nd Edition after finishing my first full campaign in DnD (Curse of Strahd). Pathfinder has immaculate character customization, great lore, tons of free tools, and is balanced to a tee!

My favorite trope is...
I adore the 'Darkest Hour,' or the moment in a battle or fight where you're not sure if the heroes will win. A fight were the outcome is certain isn't dramatic, it takes tension out of a story. I enjoy creating battles and moments where victory truly hangs in the balance!
My games focus on...
I focus on a balance of the three pillars of play, combat, exploration, and social roleplay encounters. By pacing out these types of gameplay, I can create a game that is consistently engaging, dynamic, and interesting to play. I make sure to try and run my games at a brisk pace!
When it comes to voices
I do voices for all my NPCs! For minor characters this could be as simple as an easy accent. For major ones however, I try and create something distinct, even reflecting them through gestures or posture. I'm no actor, but my players often compliment me on my ability to make characters come to life.
Nevin's ideal table
As long as you have a desire to be immersed in the game and respect the fun of all at the table, you will fit right in at my table. I'm always trying to throw the spotlight around so that everyone can have their cool moments. I don't demand your complete attention 100% of the time, but I do value players that can stay consistently involved and active throughout my sessions. TTRPGS are inherently team based, so please bring a willingness to work with and bond with the other players in the game! There is no room for hate or maliciousness in this hobby, so please exercise a good degree of proper social etiquette, but don't be afraid to be yourself. I am more than willing to play with people who have little to no experience with Pathfinder 2nd Edition or TTRPGs in general, I love teaching them.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Fast paced, immersive, and emotionally engaging games with a good mixture of gameplay elements.
I love it when a player
Prompts me to add detail to the world. Ask questions! What does this object feel like? How does this room make me feel? What impression do I get from this character? This game is collaborative in nature and by asking questions you help me develop the world while also developing your character.
My perfect party mix is
A party that works together and communicates to create characters who play well off each other, both mechanically and narratively. Consider what everyone else at the table is playing and think about how you could create a character that melds well with that.
