About Creigh Markovich

Hi! I am a Saint Louis based Actor and artist! I have around six years of experience with Dungeons & Dragons 5e; about a year of that has been sitting behind the DM's screen entertaining my friends and family! I love D&D, it is a consistent release of much pent up creative energy as both an actor and a former math nerd. In my recent experiences with DMing, I have discovered that I really love walking my friends through homebrewed settings that are crafted to specifically reflect the interior worlds and struggles of their PCs. I am heavily influenced by the greats such as Matthew Mercer and Brennan Lee Mulligan, as well as my love for movies (like Studio Ghibli). I am a huge fan of fun and whimsy, and I believe in a game with flexibility that allows the PCs to improvise not only in their RP but also in the creative ways they can use their abilities. Rule of Cool, baby!

throwing myself around the stages of Saint Louis and writing furiously! I read a lot of plays, and some books too...

How Creigh Markovich runs games

I am an actor first, so I really lean into character interactions with the world. The most color in my games will come from the NPCs and the PCs investment in them. I really enjoy combat, and purposeful combat at that! Pointless violence can slow things down and force a group to focus heavily on things the PCs might not care much about. I try to avoid that and ensure designed combat encounters serve a clear purpose, either in advancing plot points or establishing stakes/tone. I love providing players with opportunities to be creative in combat, so I try to incorporate many things that have no planned purpose, but may allow enemies or PCs to think creatively in sticky situations. I am also a huge believer in the fact that not every fight is meant to be won, and when a purpose is accomplished through combat it need not always end in total death. But of course, killing all the enemies is still fun, so there's plenty of that too! Exploration is super fun, too! I don't like boring settings, I like spectacular and near-impossible things and magics, so the exploration of these settings will reveal wonders!

When it comes to voices

I LOOOOOVE leaning into the silliness and immersion that can come from character voices!!!!

Creigh Markovich's ideal table

At my table, Players who are good listeners, teammates, and storytellers will thrive. I strive for a giving and creative table where my players have as much influence in the flavor of the world (particularly their character's world) as I do! I love prompting players to pull a thread and run with it, and I enjoy tossing the ball of description up for my players to knock out of the park! We are all storytellers, by nature, and I want my players to exercise their imaginations to shape the world they're exploring. It's a fine balance between creative and descriptive freedom and maintaining immersion and suspension of disbelief, but I love toeing and protecting that line.
