About Andrew Maxwell

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Fiction have been a large part of my life since I was a child. I grew up reading Percy Jackson, Lord of the Rings, The Walking Dead, and any other nerdy community you can think of. Which eventually brought me to TTRPG's through my childhood. I played TTRPG on and off for most of my childhood and young adulthood. Since 2020, I have played far more TTRPG and have fallen more in love with the TTRPG Community. As a GM, I love creating a story with others, creating sandbox worlds that my players can explore and develop with me. That is the important part of TTRPG for me, collaboration. I might be the GM, but it is your world as much as it is mine.

How Andrew Maxwell runs games

I'm a story focused GM. I make sure to develop my stories with your character's backstory as a focus. I want the story to feel connected to your character and that your character has a real impact on our story. Combat shouldn't feel like hitting an HP punching bag. I like to develop combats with complex and changing mechanics. Whether that means terrain changes, multiple phase fights, or fights with multiple objectives. I love to play with the "Rule of Cool" your characters are heroes let them do something fun and awesome during gameplay.

Andrew Maxwell's ideal table

My tables are for players who enjoy the chance at going from gritty storylines to comedy to a mystery. I love it when players can find immersion in different genres and have the opportunity to discover more about the characters in diverse situations. An important rule at my tables is the rule of cool. If the player has something cool that their hero wants to do, I think that's amazing and encourage it.
