About Marko [Anaxis Games]

Building cities that bleed since 2005. Hi, I'm Marko. You're here because you're curious and I'm here because I love to tell stories. I've been doing it for two decades, mostly focusing on Vampire: The Masquerade and Vampire: The Requiem, with a bit of Mass Effect as a palate cleanser. I enjoy dark fantasy and have a heavy focus on roleplay, so my campaigns are always atmospheric and moody, with narration designed to push the players into a truly living world. My background in psychology and teaching helps me focus on each player individually, and I love using music and visual aids to immerse the players even more. The most important thing, however, is this: Escapism is king. There are no thinly veiled allegories in my games, no commentaries on real-world issues, no deliberate parallels to anything. Just a group of people getting together to tell a story full of drama and conflict, and have fun doing it. In my experience, this simple truth keeps the table safe and enjoyable. I've linked my YouTube channel below, feel free to check out some of my campaign trailers, character intros, etc. Also, come hang out on Discord! https://discord.gg/kDxMeaEsSM

I became a GM because

I had all these worlds and people inside my head and I wanted others to interact with them, not just me.

How Marko [Anaxis Games] runs games

I create believable worlds, places that feel lived in. The world doesn't revolve around the players, although their actions have consequences and propel stories forward in a way that's internally consistent with the world. I'm a big proponent of character-driven drama, so even my games which are primarily story-driven have many moments of character introspection and internal conflict.

I deal with rules issues by...

Asking myself which ruling would allow for the most dramatic and cinematic result.

I once ran a session...

With complete strangers in front of a pub because I heard them talking about how they'd never tried it before.

Rules are...

A useful toolbox that allows us to introduce an element of chance to our narratives. They help keep things consistent and offer options to players. Knowing the rules helps us to also know when to break them.

Marko [Anaxis Games]'s ideal table

Roleplayers, players who like to both immerse themselves into their characters and witness others do the same, are the perfect fit for my tables. We set clear boundaries and within them, we experiment and see where the story takes us. My tables are usually very relaxed and friendly, with a lot of banter before and after the game. After a session or two, the vibe is more "a bunch of friends at a table" instead of "a group of strangers on the internet".

I love it when a player

Wants to discover the world without me prompting it.
