About Hailey Ryan

hey! I'm Hailey! I have played and GM'ED D&D for the last 7 years ever sense was in high school, I played 3.5 in HS after that I switched to 5E. I have GM'ED around 14 games in all in the last 2 years, when I play as a player I usually pick supporting roles like cleric or artificer, I enjoy helping out the rest of the party and ensuring that everyone is having a good time. which translated well when I started GMING games I want my players to leave each session with a bit of sadness that it is over and excitement for next week, I want the game to be a highlight of my players lives, something that allows them to express themself and find community and friends. I love Brandon Sanderson and am extremely excited that the new cosmere campaign is a thing, I have not had the opportunity to play but I am hopeful I can soon. I also have been chewing on an idea for a magic based motorcycle/biker d&d campaign, complete with biker bars and biker clubs/factions. but I have not found enough players that would be interested in that sort of thing and am hoping if my application is approved that I will have that chance on this platform to use this campaign idea. I am not the most experienced GM and i hope to gain much more on this platform If i have the opportunity

When I'm not running games I'm...

Riding motorcycles or driving around in my Camaro in the mountains, I love fishing, camping, hunting etc. I also love retro video games esp the OG NES and N64 which I play on my 32" CRT TV.

How Hailey Ryan runs games

I absolutely love role play! I want my worlds to feel alive! romance, drama, in jokes, forbidden knowledge, I reward my players for caring about their party members as well as NPC's even small ones. I give inspiration for good roll playing attempts. I know it can be hard and social anxiety is something i struggle with, but the attempt is almost more important then if it was objectively "good". prep is important for combat encounters I prefer to have fewer battles but ones that have importance to the story and I make deaths of npcs hit hard, and have actual consequences such as quest lines being cut off entirely, less loot, or if you hurt say children, you will be hunted down and attacked for your crimes by bounty hunters. I plan and hopefully archive the goal of good environmental and world based story telling, you need to poke around and ask questions to progress, information isn't just handed to you for no reason, or for no cost, maybe you have to do a side quest to earn the trust of the shop keep before a certain item is unlocked. hopefully this gives you an idea of the kind of GM I am :D. see you at the table

My games focus on...

Role Play, and character development with a heavy focus on world building. I like my combat encounters to be long and meaningful, lots of build up and consequences for failure such as loosing access to quest lines, Reward/loot options etc

Good vibes are the most important thing, we are all there to have fun at the end of the day and I don't want people having a bad time because of in or out of game issues, Id rather give a one time refund for someone then have the entire party be dragged down by some issue. chill nerdy vibes are a must. respect of peoples identity and pronouns are a must. a one time mess up is okay but along with any other sort of disruptive behavior I will let you know what it is and what i expect to change if you wish to continue playing. lets have some fun! see you at the table :3
