GM Style

1) Roleplay: Absolutely, yes for my campaigns. I will *require* all my players to have backstory and work with them on establishing a character that is cinema-worthy. Internal conflict? Unresolved issues? Alliances and enemies? Goals? Quirks? I deeply encourage roleplay and reward it by typically giving more lore of the story which can be pivotal for learning secrets, exploiting weaknesses, opening up additional quests, and much more. 2) Combat: Traditional combat is an issue. Move up and swipe twice. It's boring. It's not challenging. I change it all. I include variations of mechanics, added features and actions, and much more. I love the use of environment and encourage players to think outside their simple character sheet. Just have attack options left against the swarm of maggots? Why not use your action to throw down that rickety bookcase. Squishy damage? I think yes! Lets consider that vulnerable! 3) Puzzles: A campaign is never complete without some good puzzles. About 90% of my puzzles are homebrewed.
