In 2002, I sat at a table in my mother’s basement with a handful of friends, some dice, and a thirst for adventure. 20 years later, the table and the people at it have changed, but the adventurous spirit hasn’t. In the first year, I transferred from player to sitting behind the DM screen, and wrote my first adventure, a small dungeon delve meant for four or five players to complete in one to two 4-hour sessions. The adventure was a success and I haven’t set down the pen for long since. In the intervening years, I’ve expanded my horizons to include over 20 systems and editions played, terrain building and miniatures painting, writing and organizing single-session convention games and full homebrew campaigns, and added some “bonus hobbies” that have helped inform my writing and play on both sides of the screen. In my current and future games, I aim to run in a way that is ADHD-friendly. I also love to run the occasional charity game!
