About Ken
8-year DM with four campaigns primed to offer (Deck of Many Things, Devils and Demons working together, D&D Western [guns and magic], Planar Travel [and destruction?]) Happy to design one primed for you and your party as well! I ran and completed a campaign virtually before, so I am familiar with the concept and execution. Roll20 is DOPE.

My favorite shows/movies are
The West Wing 10 Things I Hate About You All Harry Potter but ESPECIALLY Half-Blood Prince
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Kind, Tactical, Ridiculous (they swear it's meant positively)
When I'm not running games I'm...
Watching sports, doing "story time" for my two little nieces, working in fraud detection, or dancing the waltz with my long-term gf!
How Ken runs games
I typically I run campaigns with 1 central theme with 3-4 subthemes I love good and interesting combat I use many NPCs but (typically) leave them for the PCs to interact with - aka I don't force you to talk to Bob Boberson unless you want to I love looking to historical events to inspire my arcs. Books too, both historical and fantasy. Very, very open to PC requests - you won't always get exactly what you want, but my goal will be to work with you over time (earth + D&D world) to achieve your goals at least directionally.

I deal with rules issues by...
1. Hearing the argument/viewpoints 2. Bringing it to the table broadly for perspective 3. Making a ruling ---------------------------------------------------- At least one session later, 4. Being open to objections
Rules are...
I run D&D like Pirates of the Caribbean - "The code is what we call a guideline more than actual rules". Shifts / deviations will be clearly communicated and agreed upon by the table. They are few and far between. Example addition is flanking providing advantage to attackers. I am consistent.
When it comes to voices
I am a HUGE fan of players doing them but will protect you all from having to hear me butcher voice acting. I will describe what the character sounds like but not strike out swinging with an attempt. But please flex your skills!
Ken's ideal table
I love players who engage with the story, ask world-building questions, and want to kick tush in the combat arena. More simply - bring your passion to whatever part of D&D that you like and I will match my game to it as best as I possibly can. In order, I'm best at: Story Combat World-Building I'm getting better at all three - I just studied at Dungeon Master University in Georgia and learned from the experts!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
1. Political intrigue 2. International tensions 3. Combat 4. Devils & or Demons 5. Magic Items! 6. A quirky salesman named Bob Boberson (actually exists. First NPC I had to improvise and...well...meet Bobby B!)
I love it when a player
1. Challenges me/calls me out on a ruling. Bonus BONUS points when they then accept whatever my final ruling is. 2. Asks open-ended questions to help build the world/NPC relationships 3. Compliments the other players at the table. Let's make people feel welcome and happy in our hobby!
My table is not the place for...
1. Forced-min/max ing. If you want to do it? Go for it! Please don't make John Smith (or Jane or me or whoever) feel bad/dumb for not doing it. 2. Combat-averse players. I enjoy combat and include it in my campaigns. 3. Feeling the need to be perfect. You don't need to be! Be you! You rock.
