About Julien L.

While getting my creative writing degree, I was introduced by a friend to the world of TTRPGs. It was during my first session as a player that I was looking forward to learning the rules and figuring out how to run this game for others. Being a GM has opened my horizons in ways I didn't dream of. I've always been fascinated by video game narratives that have to allow the player agency, but D&D was even more than that! It was a narrative fully crafted by everyone sitting at the table (or sitting at their computer). After being the forever-DM for 4 years of home games, I'm ready to bring cooperative storytelling to other people for other playstyles and possible adventures! I'm a huge fan of customization and letting players explore many options to create the characters they want to be. I even have some credible third-party sourcebooks to give my players options they would not have in most other games. I want to craft a great game around whatever character you make in a world that makes your decisions matter. I'm ready for whatever nail-biting, hilarious, gut-wrenching, bonkers adventure we have in store!

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing video games, playing my instruments, and thinking about running games. I will never stop thinking about running games because I am obsessed and in too deep.

How Julien L. runs games

I love a good mix between roleplay and combat. Creating a story is always goal #1 but D&D's mechanics do make combat a focus that I don't want to ignore. I love playing tactical strategy as much as I do creating a large story with my players.

Julien L.'s ideal table

Players who are eager to engage with the story and roleplay while still having a blast with the board game combat aspect with all the tactics and strategies that come with it.

My table is not the place for...

rules lawyers. I know all the rules, been doing this a long time. If someone wants to do something that normally isn't possible under Rules-as-Written, do not chime in with the rulebook (unless I specifically ask for help). If an idea is really great and makes logical sense, Rule-of-Cool will win
