About Jessica
I've been a storyteller & GM since 2013, been actively playing TTRPGs & involved with RP since 2009, & was raised around both D&D & World of Darkness since 1993 because of my dad who has been a part of the community since the 80s. Storytelling & GMing are the top of my hobbies list. I'm a trans woman, with a history of mental health issues, that promotes positive mental health treatment & regularly incorporates themes of mental illness in my games.

I started running games because...
I wanted to share my ideas & stories with others & to see them from perspectives beyond my own.
When I'm not running games I'm...
prepping for games or playing story-oriented, single player RPGs.
How Jessica runs games
I prefer roleplay heavy games that focus on themes of moral ambiguity & mental health where even success regularly comes with consequences. I have experience running hack & slash style games & try to balance them to have consequences of failure that extend beyond only character injuries & death. The majority of my experience is running homebrew games & I want to run more pre-written adventures, but prefer to let the table decide what game they want me to run for them. I've run games from low-risk one shots to multi-year world ending threat stories. I'm also currently live streaming a long format game with a group that is over 100 sessions & stands as a public showing of my GMing skill.

I prep by
preparing locations, characters, central problems to ensure that regardless of how PCs act I am ready for how the world reacts to them instead of trying to lead the PCs through the story.
My games focus on...
themes of mental illness & personal growth through trials.
When it comes to voices
I use a combination of voice acting & a voice changer to make characters sound distinct from each other.
Jessica's ideal table
I prefer games with a high degree of roleplay where the players actively interact with the setting to gain a deeper understanding of the situation & people involved, as well as with each other to deepen character bonds & stories.
Featured Prompts
I think it's a red flag when players...
have real world biases against marginalized groups.
I think metagaming...
is an opportunity to ask for rolls & develop backstory to explain why a character knows the information.
I think min/maxing...
can be balanced alongside characters of other levels of power to allow all characters an opportunity to shine.
