About Jaysin
Hello one and all, I'm Jables, and I have been GMing games for almost 30 years. Systems include D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, OWOD Vampire and Werewolf, as well as Savage Worlds and the original 1996 Deadlands. I am also an experienced concept artist.

I got started GMing...
When I was 17 years old, the usual GM would continually cancel games at the last minute. I had several years as a player under my belt for a few systems and decided to start running my own games.
My favorite system of all Time is
That would be Savage Worlds. I love how unique you can make your character in that system
When I'm not running games I'm...
Spending time with my kids.
How Jaysin runs games
Depending on the game system, I run a 60/40 combat-to-roleplay ratio, while in more social games, I do a 70/30 roleplay-to-combat. That being said, I do not force roleplay on players as I view it as something that, if they feel comfortable doing, they'll initiate it. I would say I'm not a strictly by-the-book GM. I do skip rules in order to keep the game's pace, as well as a little bit of rule of cool to let the players shine. I do allow players to get sidetracked because at the end of the day, it's all about having fun and having that feeling of playing a game with friends, not a business transaction.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

I once ran a session...
that lasted 16 hours.
My games focus on...
Mostly plot-driven, I allow for roleplay, but in my experience, a goal tends to help keep the party motivated, as too much roleplay can derail the game.
Jaysin's ideal table
I like the vibe at my tables to be more like a bunch of friends getting together to tell a story. By that I mean, at times, the game will get sidetracked because of humor or someone's anecdote. It makes the table more enjoyable and less like a job for everyone. We're here to have fun away from our day-to-day lives, not add another "chore" to it.

I think it's a red flag when players...
Start insulting the players or me because something doesn't go their way, or get angry because they aren't the exception to laid out and agreed upon rules.
I think min/maxing...
has its place depending on the system. Like in Exalted 2e, for example, min/maxing works great as that system is all about over-the-top stunts and scenes. Other games, Such as the Savage Worlds system, tend to make your character less viable as a bit of every attribute is not required but suggested.
My table is not the place for...
Players with main character syndrome, rules lawyers, or players that treat the game as a job.
