About Jason The GM

Hello! My name is Jason, and I've been running tabletop RPGs for the past four years. I specialize in immersive, character-driven campaigns that combine tactical combat, meaningful roleplay, and stories shaped by player choices. I primarily run Pathfinder 2e and love using Foundry VTT to create engaging online experiences with custom artwork, ambient music, dynamic maps, and memorable encounters. Whether you're a veteran of the system or brand new to Pathfinder, I strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone can contribute and have fun. My favorite moments in tabletop gaming aren't found in rulebooks—they happen when players surprise me with clever solutions, emotional character moments, or decisions that change the course of the story. If you're looking for a game where your choices matter and your character can leave a lasting mark on the world, I'd love to have you at my table.

I became a GM because

I wanted to create the kind of adventures I always loved playing in—stories where player choices matter, victories feel earned, and characters can leave a lasting impact on the world. What started as running games for friends quickly became a passion for building immersive experiences.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Creative, prepared, and welcoming. I put a lot of effort into custom artwork, music, and Foundry VTT features, but I also strive to create a table where players feel comfortable asking questions, trying new ideas, and helping shape the story.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working for the USPS, spending time with my wife and our cats, tinkering with Foundry VTT, creating campaign assets, or planning my next Pathfinder adventure. I enjoy bringing that same enthusiasm and creativity to every game I run. Oh I'm also a bit of a basketball guy!

How Jason The GM runs games

My GM style is a blend of roleplay, tactical combat, character development, and collaborative storytelling. I strive to create campaigns where players feel connected to the world and where their choices have a meaningful impact on the story. One of my favorite parts of any campaign is Session 0. I enjoy helping players tie their characters into the setting, establish connections with one another, and create personal goals that can influence the adventure. I work hard to incorporate character backstories, motivations, and relationships into the campaign so that the story feels like it belongs to the party rather than simply happening around them. Roleplay is a major focus at my table. I enjoy portraying NPCs, giving characters opportunities to shine, and encouraging interactions that help bring the world to life. While I occasionally use character voices, my goal is immersion rather than performance. I make extensive use of Foundry VTT, custom artwork, ambient music, dynamic lighting, and campaign resources to create an immersive online experience. I also love tactical combat. Pathfinder 2e shines when players work together, think strategically, and approach challenges creatively. Some of my favorite moments come from unexpected plans, clever ideas, and cinematic risks that create memorable stories, whether they succeed or fail. While combat encounters are intended to feel dangerous and exciting, I'm rooting for the players every step of the way. I challenge the characters, not the people playing them. I generally follow the Rules as Written for character abilities and combat mechanics, but outside of those areas I'm open to creativity, collaboration, and ideas that make the game more fun for everyone.

I deal with rules issues by...

Following the Rules as Written whenever possible, especially during combat and character interactions. If a ruling isn't immediately clear, I'll make a fair decision to keep the game moving and research the official answer afterward if needed.

I prep by

Building detailed Foundry VTT experiences with custom maps, artwork, music, handouts, and campaign resources. I also spend time thinking about how player backstories, goals, and recent choices might influence future events in the campaign.

My games focus on...

Meaningful character choices, immersive roleplay, and tactical combat. I enjoy campaigns where player decisions shape the story, characters build relationships with the world around them, and victories feel earned rather than guaranteed.

Jason The GM's ideal table

My ideal table is made up of players who are excited to collaborate, engage with the story, and help create memorable moments together. Whether you're a Pathfinder veteran or brand new to the system, enthusiasm, respect for fellow players, and a willingness to participate are far more important than system mastery. I enjoy groups that balance roleplay, exploration, and tactical combat. Players who invest in their characters, interact with NPCs, build relationships within the party, and take an interest in the world around them will get the most out of my games. My tables tend to be friendly, supportive, and lighthearted between serious moments. We can laugh at a bad roll one minute and have a dramatic character scene the next. Everyone deserves a chance to contribute, and I do my best to ensure every player has opportunities to shine. The players who fit best at my table are those who work with the party, respect everyone's time, communicate openly, and are interested in telling a great story together rather than trying to "win" the game. If you're looking for immersive adventures, meaningful choices, tactical combat, and a welcoming group of fellow players, you'll likely fit right in.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Immersive roleplay, tactical combat, meaningful character choices, and stories that react to player decisions.

I love it when a player

Takes an unexpected approach to a problem, engages with the world, or creates a memorable character moment that nobody at the table saw coming. Some of the best stories come from players surprising both me and each other.

I think min/maxing...

Is completely fine. Pathfinder 2e rewards building effective characters, and I enjoy challenging capable heroes. Just remember that being a great teammate is more important than having the perfect build.
