About Jared
Running all 5e published modules w/ heavy modifications. The best D&D gets played when you challenge players both mechanically and emotionally. My games are harder than published 5e modules so be prepared! All safety tools included and character creation happens collaboratively in Session 0.

My favorite shows/movies are
available for review on my letterboxed account here: https://letterboxd.com/JaredJacovich/ I'm a huge movie buff and much of my DM'ing style is drawn from the visual language of film! Ask me anything about movies.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Making movies, boxing, gardening or cooking!
How Jared runs games
I run my games like movies in my head. I want you to have that badass character moment where you save the day - whether that's slaying the monster in dramatic fashion or convincing the Lord to help with the mission. We'll examine what YOU find fun and cool and that's what will be included in your sessions! I run all 5e published adventures with my own heavily modified additions - combat will be harder than average for most 5e adventures and will require tactical thinking. Tonally - a mix of serious roleplay and funny improv moments - I encourage you to be true to whatever character you wish to play, but be prepared for the world to be true to you!

My games focus on...
immersion and verisimilitude. There's nothing like losing yourself in character when you're playing D&D. It's what I aspire to always. I want you to laugh, cry and cheer as the story unfolds around your avatar!
Rules are...
important but not the priority - which is fun. Obviously.
Jared's ideal table
My ideal table is one where all the players are invested in the story and its telling. They love to interact with the world the DM is creating at all levels. They enjoy interacting with each other and are thrilled by the fruits of those interactions. They are communicative about what they expect from the game and what they're enjoying and what they're not. They take the world the DM is creating seriously and don't try and break it or exploit it to try and "win" D&D. They're creative partners.

I love it when a player
is committed to the reality of the world and interested in how it works. Player buy-in is the most important thing. My DM'ing style is at its best when my players take the world seriously!
I think min/maxing...
Is part of the fun but shouldn't be the priority when creating a character or playing a character. There should be some synergy between who your character is and what they can do!
