About Alex

"You all start in a tavern" Words many of us would have heard in our lives, many years ago those words sunk a knife into my heart and mind, a wound that would fester into a love of TTRPG's to span the ages! I'm sure you can all also attest. Hello and welcome all! My name is Alex and i will be your Games Master for this about section, since i heard those words many years ago and then my GM at the time abruptly quit (bro feigned death irl) i knew someone had to pick up the slack, its now *insert year here* (i see you time travelers) and my butt has been gracing the DM's chair spinning stories of cyberpunk slickers and starfighting solos for so long it feels like a polyhedral dream, but one I'm going to keep riding until i can't carry that weight anymore! I'm a nerd of the highest degree and have GM'd for games from classic Fantasy to horrible eldritch squiggly monsters to Studio Ghibli/legend of Zelda inspired anime, and lately, rewriting all of star wars into my own setting because lord knows that third trilogy ended up with some bad canon! (don't force choke me please) And now I'd like to bring the wonder and wonkery of my games to a imaginative landscape near you! So if you like Intricate yet chaotic lore, characters with names i definitely didn't just make up on the spot, fun wacky homebrew and dynamic epic storytelling/combat then get on in here! I watch a lot of shows but they're all roughly in the same genre, big fan of Doctor Who, Supernatural, Marvels Agents of Shield, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Game of Thrones, the list goes on Movie wise i like a lot of foreign cinema and romance movies which people are often surprised about!

How Alex runs games

So you want to play a game? *kicks random cycling creepy doll* Get outta here I'm trying to tell these wonderful people of the internet about myself I'm a big fan of all things in TTRPG and i take influence from a lot of things in the nerd-sphere, so what to expect? Choice matters: These are some of my favorite video games to play, if you took a mission to kill some Gnolls but didn't investigate the wider cause the Gnolls will continue to spread but also if you kill the Gnoll leader you discover a larger plot within the kingdom, what you do will be significant lest it lead you to victory or ruin. A wide array of roleplay: I like a good balance of seriousness to humor mirrored in my NPCS, but i try my best to make them unique and compelling in their own ways, even Spogglebog the frog wizard could have a dark heartfelt backstory compared to Karius Geshall the Orc warlord Interesting combat: Creative combat scenarios are something i adore, sure its fun to just smash yourself into the enemy and blast off spells but sometimes things aren't always so easy, what if you just took out the guards that know the energy shield protocols, and now an acid storm is rolling in? do you quick scramble to learn the controls, or leave the town to its fate? Evolving collaborative worlds: Do you want to be an elf but none of the ones in the setting quite fit your vibe? Can bread in this setting be blue? I'm sure we can come up to a solution together and make the setting more awesome!

I prep by

Going through my music tracks for hours, getting myself into the scenes and the environments, finding tracks from well known video games and movies etc so the players note something fun to connect to!

My games focus on...

A well rounded TTRPG experience! Do you fancy some fun combat? Some heartfelt roleplay? Or do you just want to rob that gnome named Plumbo in a mission you coined "Potions Eleven" (real story) I like to cover many themes and tropes that combine into a wonderful cacophony of chaos

Guidelines! In the end we're trying to collaboratively tell a story together, I'm a big advocate for homebrew, rule of cool and creative thinking, i like my players to be able to do big spectacular things if they're smart enough to put the effort in!

I love a good mixture of players from those interested in combat to those who want to focus on their backstories or those just in for the ride! My table is usually filled with laughs from me accidentally saying a euphemism to groans when i slam down a massive boss miniature on the board. If you want a DM who actually cares about what YOU want to see and what YOU want to do rather than just putting your characters into a grand railroad, then join me in putting your stories to life in my funky worlds!

Is okay to a degree, it's good to for a player to understand if they do this as a player to try and "beat the system" so to say then i as a GM will just change the campaign accordingly so the challenge is still relevant
