About Ayden

Hello! My name is Ayden, and I am a college student who loves to be a forever GM. Through my experience, I only ran Pathfinder2e games but with my background in theater and music, I love voicing multiple characters and truly making something feel alive. I love running games-based fantasy, medieval, or anything older. My games are always a mix of different focuses, whether that be role play, combat, or even giving every PC a cool spotlight moment. Furthermore, I have always loved meeting new people, so please message me if you want to chat or learn more about me. Even when I play, I like to have moments to just talk as real people and have moments of camaraderie at the table and build a real connection outside of the game. Now let's roll some dice and travel the depths of an endless dungeon together.

My favorite books are

110% the drama Hamlet written by William Shakespeare, I Am One of You Forever by Fred Chappell, and Like Water For Chocolate by Mexican novelist and screenwriter Laura Esquivel. These are a few granted I don't delve into reading often.

People are always surprised when I tell them

That I can actually beatbox. I have been roughly doing it for 3-4 years and do it at a collegiate level. I am waiting to put it into one of my campaigns,

When I'm not running games I'm...

I am either studying or hanging out with friends in person. some activities include, working out, playing video games or even just nature walking.

How Ayden runs games

I would like to say I am a very direct GM. In general terms I sometimes like to "hold your hand" and also like to let players do anything they want at times. It is a mix but really depends on where you are in the campaign or a side quest. Speaking of side quest, I really like to get PC's involved with their backstories as much as possible. I try to make your character feel special and maybe even connect the events with the main story. When it comes to combat, I love to really make every enemy movement count and truly make sense to what you are fighting. Either that be a pack of hungry wolfs attacking the weakest link for an easy meal and using their power of numbers or maybe a group of spirits randomly charging the closest player. My encounters are more than just a fight but tactical warfare. I believe that NPCs should get some love and in my campaigns you will undoubtably have to either work for or have some type of relationships with an NPC. Now I try to make these encounters meaningful and usually connect to my "web" of lore. Overall, I priorities whatever my party prefers either that be challenging combat or deep monologues with NPC's or even puzzles or riddles. Even when I run the same campaign multiple times they always end up being different each time. As long as my PC's communicate what they want as best as they can I will deliver and if anything is too much or maybe even too little, I am not afraid to hear feedback on what could be better.

I deal with rules issues by...

acknowledging a misinterpretation of the rule(s) and try to find a good source online or my physical rule books to correctly interpret the rule(s). If my players really want to have aa house rule or ROC that I don't have already, I am truly ok with changing things as along as everyone else is ok.

My games focus on...

Plenty of diverse and engaging combat as well as deep and rich role play scenarios. I also love to accommodate what my players like to have or see more of.

When it comes to voices

I use my acting background to bring a diverse cast of voices to the table. I switch easily between funny and serious tones to keep the game vibrant, professional, and most importantly, fun.

Ayden's ideal table

My table is a mix of casual in game and out of game conversations. But when it comes down to monologuing or steel breaking combat, I like to keep things flowing and avoid side convos that aren't related to the game. Especially If there is an NPC or player talking or taking an important action. Overall, I prefer focus during daring times and laid-back vibes when things are down. My tables are built on communication and banter in and out of game in a diverse way. I warmly welcome players who might struggle with roleplay or are shy at the table. My hope is to create an environment where you feel safe enough to eventually break out of your shell, but I will never force anyone into the spotlight if they aren't ready or want it. Honestly, the more diverse the group is both in-game and out-of-game the better the story gets. I really believe that different perspectives make the game run smoother for all of us. I just ask that you bring your A-game and an open mind; that’s the best way to keep the table welcoming and comfortable for everyone.

I think metagaming...

Can be a very broad term and to be honest I am still deciding what I feel like meta gaming is at my table. My general rule is your character doesn't know what you know but they also most likely have common sense. Just try your best and I'll remind you if I feel as if it is unfair to the table.

My perfect party mix is

a mix of everything, but really no group is better than any other. Furthermore, I truly do believe in a party with some like-minded characters and some that may clash or think otherwise.
