About me
Greetings, salutations and andaran atishan everyone! I am Emma, or Hummalou on the internet. I have been running games for 8 years, and for a large portion of that I have been running games that are streamed on Twitch. By day I am a high school teacher and I like to take the patience, humour and inclusive practice I use in my day job to the tables that I run. I am passionate about collaborative storytelling and I am at my best when running games where we laugh, cry and punch oppressive forces in the face! I will always encourage the rule of cool, feeling epic, doing it for the bit and having fun being the highest priority. I take game systems and deconstruct them a little to remove some of the crunch to instead focus on the stories we are weaving together in a more cinematic way. I have always prided myself in creating safe spaces for my players, your comfort and happiness is key. I run inclusive and welcoming spaces, for any and all marginalized people.
GM Style
As a GM, I lean into character driven storylines and encourage RP heavy games where the relationships between the characters are just as important as the story unfolding. I have been told that my worlds always feel fleshed out and well lived in, with compelling NPCs. I enjoy immersive world building and take what my players offer up in their characters and build the world around them where their decisions and actions matter. I had the pleasure of playing a Dragon Age game from Hummalou and it was an incredible experience. They're a creative and open GM who offered us strong and consistent inputs in the story and world, and the adventure was well paced. I don't have much experience in the Dragon Age world, but they have a deep knowledge of the lore and were able to help me find the threads that really spoke to me and helped me tell a meaningful story.

Hummalou has been one of the *best* GMs I have ever worked with. Their Dragon Age games have been and will live rent free forever in my mind. (As said from a huge DA fan since they came out in like '09.) They're so kind and mean in all the best ways you need from a GM to tell a riveting story that you actually feel a part of. Hummalou is an incredibly devoted and meticulous GM and always goes above and beyond to craft an immersive and textured experience. For first-time players, they make sure to introduce game mechanics organically and make the experience fun and natural. Balanced in-game conflict that neither feels unfair nor too easy, care and attention given to each PC and respect for their personal story lines while keeping the plot moving at an engaging pace, and some of the most beloved and beautiful NPCs ever created.

Hummalou is such a masterful storyteller, it always feels like a blessing to get to play at their tables. Every step of the way, it feels as if they've locked in on how to bring out the most fun out of every situation. When RPing, they fully inhabit and become their NPCs. They have a knack for finding the perfect way to interpret dice rolls in a way that both makes sense in the situation and creates a fun and cool story. Outside of sessions they are adept at using safety tools and checking in to make sure the content they run is fun and comfortable for the whole table. Truly one of the best GMs I've ever gotten to play with!

I have played at Hummalou's tables for years. No matter the system, they create a very inclusive and safe space for their players. Their storytelling and NPC interactions are stellar! They create a very balanced playing experience between feeling like you are in mortal danger, but also doing epic stuff at the same time. There is romance and drama and silliness and everything in between. They make every player/character feel important and share the spotlight between all. I absolutely love being a player at their table! 10 out of 10 recommend to anyone, beginner to expert.
