About me
I've been an active gaming enthusiast and have had a love for fantasy and science fiction since childhood. After playing Magic: The Gathering for a couple decades, I linked up with a friend and played a Dungeons and Dragons game, and discovered that's basically what I wanted the whole time. I've been a Dungeon Master on a bunch of games since and love it. I'm looking forward to going on an adventure together!
GM Style
I'm here to make sure everyone has a fun experience while feeling safe and included. I treat games as collaborative storytelling opportunities.I feel like I can adapt well to lots of different types of players. I give players lots of opportunities for different types of problem-solving so not every situation needs to turn into combat. Rule 1 is very important to me. I like blending fantasy and science fiction to create as big (or small!) of a world as possible. I have the tools for a in-person game, but I respect the safety of players so I am also open to digital meetings, and I've even done long-term games with no video - entirely theatre of the mind, like a radio show.

Hugh is a creative and adaptable DM who enjoys a lot of player participation and input in the game. He takes character goals into consideration and builds the world in a way so that those motivators are integral to the story, making players feel important to the game, too.

I played with Hugh as my GM over Discord all through the pandemic, and then in-person afterwards. Hugh always went to lengths to create original, surprising storylines and settings (the ant-people kingdom crumbling into an urban futurescape over a time vortex comes to mind) and also to make diverse NPCs that felt inclusive and welcoming.

Hugh was my first ever DM, i’ve never played a D&D game before and it was very easy to follow, he’s extremely understanding and didn’t make me feel awkward for not knowing what to do. i really enjoyed myself and made me eager to play another game!
