About GM Mark (that old guy GM)
I've been a gamer since around 1976 and GM'ing since 77 or 78. I've run hundreds of gaming sessions and got into virtual gaming back when it was really hard to connect or play. I like action and adventure, but I also enjoy it when players spend the time to get to know the folks that they encounter. Pathfinder for Savage Worlds is my preferred fantasy ruleset. It's easy to learn and allows a lot of flexibility, while not boring everyone with tons of rules. I like the randomness of exploding dice rolls and cards for initiative, which brings some tension to combat. I'm retired and spend most of my time doing gaming-related stuff, be it printing miniatures or terrain, making maps for virtual games, or helping with gaming conventions (virtual and tabletop). I consider myself a pretty easy going GM, but I don't suffer fools, or folks who are rude to others or myself. I use the 'Golden Rule' I treat others as I like to be treated.

How GM Mark (that old guy GM) runs games
I look at roleplaying as a cooperative story. I expect players to be involved with the story and not just making themselves 'the hero'. I want everyone at the table to feel that they've got a stake in the world around them. I like combat, but I'm just as happy if folks figure out smart ways to avoid it. Since SWPF doesn't use 'experience' points and such, I can reward the players with either Plot Points or by doing something really creative. I like to set a mood or scenario and see what other people do with it.

I prep by
reading, then reading some more. I build my maps and NPCs and then see how they work. Then I go back and read the story again and make changes.
Rules are...
a start, if we don't like a rule, it will be discussed and agreed on and then used going forward.
When it comes to voices
I love doing them, but I often fall out of character. I like to get some laughs with them.
GM Mark (that old guy GM)'s ideal table
A group of story tellers. Folks who like being out of their comfort zone and can deal with failure with humor and grit. People who like to laugh when times are hard.

I love it when a player
keeps going when the chips are down. Helps others at the risk of their own character. Isn't afraid to look silly.
I think metagaming...
sucks the fun out of gaming. It makes it difficult for me as the GM and it ruins the story/game for the other players. Please don't do it at my games. I'll warn you about it, and if it continues you'll be asked to leave.
My table is not the place for...
any real-world ugliness. I follow the Golden Rule - and I won't allow anyone to insult/ridicule or generally be a boor to other players (unless it's in-character during the game). Religious? Racist? Homo/trans phobic? Keep it to yourself, or leave the table.
