How Lucas (Hobbit) runs games

I love all aspects of the game, so I can be accommodating if a group prefers one of the three pillars (Action, Roleplay, or Exploration). I aim to make my worlds feel lived-in, with a strong focus on immersion. I can do voices and sound effects, though I don't consider myself a pro and am far from being a voice actor, but I try to give each NPC a distinct personality. I work hard to give my players agency, respecting their choices while offering advice and options to support their decisions. In a Session 0, I help players get comfortable, learn from each other, and create a safe, accepting space where everyone feels like a valued part of the group. I use character's backgrounds to connect them to the main plot, involving players deeply in the world and helping them truly care about it. I focus heavily on narrative coherence, ensuring that everything makes sense within the game’s context for a rewarding experience. To keep things engaging, I carefully manage pacing, balancing action, downtime, and character-driven scenes. I provide both narrative and mechanical rewards without overdoing it, encouraging players to roleplay and make meaningful choices. I'm also open to homebrew content, adapting or creating custom rules, items, or monsters to make the experience unique. I don’t subscribe to a “DM vs. players” mentality; I’m always on your side. However, I enjoy creating challenges and conflicts because overcoming them is far more satisfying than having everything handed to you. It’s all about the journey and feeling like you've earned your victories.
