About me
Like many others, I'd been toying with TTRPGs for a while before I dove in - Critical Role, Dimension20... and then I played my first game of 5e and caught the bug, hard. Two years later, I've finished a campaign (take that scheduling!), I've DM'd my own homebrew campaigns and one-shots for my friends and coworkers (TTRPG veterans and total beginners among them), I joined a local TTRPG community group... and I want more! I'd hesitate to call myself a professional GM - I love my nerdy day job and I don't plan on making much money from StartPlaying. To me, this is more about bringing people together to build a story and world together. The fiver per session is more to help me pay for the various subscriptions I need to run online sessions and make my homebrew maps etc., and to give everyone a shared sense of stakes to make the most of our sessions (+ if we were meeting in person we'd all be bringing donuts and treats and such, so the fiver is also in lieu of the in-person cost of donuts... unless you want to send me donuts? I won't say no). Let's roll!
GM Style
đ I was a theatre kid (I have *certificates*), and I love (attempting) voices and the rush of roleplay and improv. I can roll with the serious moments, and invite them even, but I live for goofiness. âď¸đşď¸ I write and make maps both professionally and for fun, and I love applying those skills to TTRPGs. You can expect a lot of homebrew world-building, lore, and original maps. Most importantly, I love doing these things collaboratively. For me, part of the fun of homebrew is flexing the world to players' ideas and decisions rather than sticking to a rigid sourcebook, so you can expect worlds, stories and and RP that feels alive, dynamic, and personal. âď¸ I dislike flat combat - you can expect most battles to have some kind of depth, whether that's tactically interesting terrain, challenging goals or conditions, or enemies with motivations and goals that affect how, who and even if they fight. đ¤ Care and inclusivity are really important to me. I want everyone at my table to feel comfortable and safe - not just because that's the way it should be, but because everyone needs to feel safe in order to have fun. Your boundaries matter. My sessions always have dedicated time for a mid-session break and an end-session debrief. Finally, I have a zero-tolerance policy towards bigotry - particularly misogyny, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, islamophobia and antisemitism, which will also never feature in the world(s) we play in.
