About Jason
I'm Haronniin (ha-ROH-neen), a GM with roots stretching back to the mid-80s. I specialize in crafting rich, living worlds where players can explore, shape, and leave their mark. Whether it’s high fantasy, gritty espionage, spacefaring drama, or the wild frontier, I bring decades of experience—and a love for collaborative storytelling—to the table. Systems I Run - Basic Fantasy RPG - Dungeons & Dragons (BECMI, AD&D 1E/2E, 5E) - GURPS 4th Edition - Palladium - Star Wars (West End Games/d6) - Top Secret (TSR) My GMing Style - Narrative-Heavy: The rules are a framework, but the story takes center stage. - Theater of the Mind: I describe the action vividly and use simple sketches or hand-drawn maps when needed. - Canned and/or Homebrew: I'll used published material, but my true love is custom content & worlds. - Voices & NPC Depth: I try to bring characters to life with distinct personalities and voices. What I Offer - One-shots to start (2–6 players), perfect for getting a feel for my style, - Session Zero character building (or pre-gens if preferred). - Friendly onboarding for new players. - Rich settings for experienced adventurers to dive into. - Genres: Fantasy (primary), Sci-Fi, Espionage, and Western. Online & In-Person Games - Online: Run via Discord + shared visuals/sketches - In-Person: Available locally (details upon inquiry)

I got started GMing...
I started GMing with the D&D Basic Set in the mid-80s. A friend and I took turns, but I quickly found I preferred running the game. After moving in ’88, I became the go-to GM for my new friends. Even today, I enjoy playing now and then, but I’m happiest behind the screen, telling great stories.
How Jason runs games
Expect a rich, story-driven experience where your character’s choices matter. I run narrative-heavy games where the rules support the plot, not the other way around. My goal is to immerse you in a living world full of secrets to uncover, factions to navigate, and adventures to chase. I strike a balanced tone—my games often start with the epic gravitas of high fantasy but inevitably pick up moments of levity, humor, and player-driven chaos. If your group swings serious or silly, I’ll follow your lead and keep the story strong either way. I run primarily in Theater of the Mind, painting vivid scenes with words and supporting combat or complex areas with simple sketches—no need to fuss with tokens or digital maps. If you're new to tabletop or want a low-tech, high-imagination approach, this will feel like home. While I occasionally run published modules, my heart is in homebrew adventures and custom worlds. Even prewritten material gets reimagined to fit my unique settings and the players at the table. Expect surprises, twists, and lore you’ll want to dig into. Finally, I love roleplaying and bring memorable NPCs to life with distinct voices, quirks, and motivations. Whether you're here to solve mysteries, change a kingdom, or just survive the next tavern brawl, I’ll help make your journey unforgettable.

Rules are...
Rules are a great framework, but they should never get in the way of a good story. I’ll bend or fudge things when it serves the narrative or enhances the player experience—always with the goal of making the game more fun for everyone.
Jason's ideal table
What’s My Table Like? My table is friendly, casual, and story-focused, with space for both serious moments and lighthearted fun. I plan scenes with a dramatic flair, knowing that the best laughs often grow naturally from tension and character interaction. Joking is absolutely welcome—as long as it doesn’t derail the story. Sessions typically feature 2–3 combat encounters, depending on group size and how the dice treat us (sometimes poorly!). That said, I lean into roleplay and exploration, encouraging players to shape and discover the world together. Whether you're deep in character or just getting the hang of things, I’ll help you find your footing. You don’t need to know the rules to play. Table talk is fine, and I’m great at helping players stay engaged and connected to the story. New players are especially welcome—I love introducing folks to the hobby. If your group enjoys character development, a mix of planning and bold action, and collaborative storytelling, you’ll fit right in. Above all, my table is built on respect, kindness, and open-mindedness. Everyone is welcome, and I strive to make sure every voice has space to be heard.
