About Gwen

Hey there! I'm Gwen. I'm a longtime Dungeon Master having been in the game since I was still in high school. Above all, my principles as a DM fall towards immersion and emphasis on characters. As much as I can, I try to make my players feel like this is *their* story and fill in the pieces to make that possible. If you forget you're sitting at a table with your friends and get you thinking you're in Faerun, then I've done my job right. Recently, I made the decision to move to a donation-based system. All games I run are free and never require any payment to participate, nor is there any obligation to pay. Donations are appreciated for the purposes of paying for the Foundry server I use as well as its premium plugins, but are not required at all. I do however vet all participants. Also, just so you know, I live in Australia, so bear in mind if you're in the US, my games will often be run in the late night or early mornings.

I became a GM because

I was 15 and the 17-year-old GMing my first ever game party wiped us on the first session with an overpowered octopus and when we complained he said 'Well I'd love to see you try!'... So I did, and made an almost just as bad session. But it's okay, I got better.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Patient, Imaginative, Clever

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working with people on the autistic spectrum develop their careers and work through the unique obstacles they struggle through to fit in with the rest of society. I also develop video games and creative works as a hobby.

How Gwen runs games

My emphasis falls on narrative and immersion. If you're looking for a more crunchy combat-focused experience, I'm probably not the right DM for you. My campaigns reward creative solutions to obstacles and getting invested into your character and the world around you. However, I'm not going to send you a massive 50 page lore document. I prioritize a world that's easy to pick up by just living in it and seeing what's around you. As much as I can, I like to connect with the personal ambitions of my players and fulfill their narrative wants in a story. As much as possible, I try to check in with players on a one-to-one basis to see what each person individually wants out of their experience and do as much as I can to weave those into a collective story that highlights the party as a whole as much as it does it's pieces. I am also quite fond of incorporating myth from various world cultures of the world, so if you're an anthropology nut, you'll be quite at home with me.
