About Green

I hail from the land of the Fair Winds, far south beyond the Great Wall. After an exciting life of wondrous adventure, I settled down beneath the smiling sun, and now share these tales to all who would listen. I've been a Game Master for over 7 years, running games in 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons, both online and in person. I love creating wonderful worlds for my players to explore, inspired by popular media like World of Warcraft and Critical Role, but grounded in real world history of the 10th to 17th centuries. In my games, you'll find grand wizard towers within neatly kept forests, dotted by camps of woodsmen and charcoal burners. Cities full of guilds and competing merchant houses, but also Colosseums where brave gladiators fight mythical beasts. And at the very top, in the highest strata of Church and State, kings, counts and bishops are ruthlessly engaged in their great games.

I got started GMing...

After I finished my degree in International Relations, and I found myself eager and excited to put my knowledge of history and geopolitics in my own D&D campaigns.

My favorite books are

Writing is arguably the single most important invention of mankind. These are some of the texts that most inspired me, and helped define my view of the world: The Geographical Pivot of History - Halford Mackinder Caiphas Cain: Hero of the Imperium - Sandy Mitchell Here We Go Again - Faust1812

My favorite shows/movies are

Patlabor 2: The Movie - IMO one of the greatest anime films of all time, the superior predecessor of Ghost in the Shell. The Saga of Tanya the Evil - One of the best war animes of all time. Starship Troopers - I'M FROM BUENOS AIRES, AND I SAY KILL 'EM ALL!

How Green runs games

In the same way my worlds take inspiration from fantasy and history, so does my style of running games. I love gritty low-fantasy, where magic is rare and superstition beats rationality. The gods are silent to their flocks of worshipers, and the words of priests have as much weight as that of kings. My games are roleplay-heavy, but there are certainly times where the sword beats the word. In most situations, clever speech and a bit of good luck will carry the day, but in the depths of the wilderness lie creatures that cannot be reasoned with. I also love to run mass combat encounters, where the player characters take part in large battles with dozens, if not hundreds of combatants. Armies will occasionally clash in my campaigns, sometimes with pomp and glory, drums and banners, and others in savage, chaotic butchery of beasts and men.

I once ran a session...

Where the party their small army found themselves in a besieged underdark fortress, fighting hordes of creatures that poured from every cave and tunnel. There were almost 100 tokens in the field, with dozens of common mooks supported by deadly elites for the PCs to focus down.

Rules are...

The consensus-based order by which we all agree the story will go, and how we'll all behave at the table. I am not a stickler for Rules as Written, but I am for the rules agreed upon by my players and I. Homebrew rules and player suggestions are always welcome at my table.

When it comes to voices

I love doing voices! I am no Voice Actor, but I do feel putting in extra effort in voices and accents adds enormous value to the immersion of my games. What's a good medieval tale without the taunts of an outrageously French knight? But this is a me thing! I don't expect my players to do the same.

Green's ideal table

Mutual respect, adherence to the rules of consensus, and fun above all else. Those are the three key elements in all of my games. My ideal table is one where all participants, players and GM alike, enjoy themselves while playing the game, and where we strike a good balance between highly detailed, narratively impactful role playing scenes, and good ol' fights where blades and spells carry the day. So consider this: If you enjoy getting fully in character, and want to experience a living, breathing world of low-fantasy with gritty historical roots, come join my games! If you love action-packed combat scenes, where formations of soldiers march and fight to the beat of drums and flying colors, come join my games! And if you're looking for a tight knit group of TTRPG enjoyers, where cooperation, compassion and mutual respect are held to the highest standard, you'll find a place in my games.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

*Medieval and renaissance history, with a mix of arcane, occult and esoteric inspired by the Codex Gigas and Malleus Maleficarum. *In-depth roleplaying with impactful decision making and a love for complex characters. *If you're a military veteran who is also a huge fantasy nerd.

I think min/maxing...

Min/maxing can have a place on a TTRPG table, but it should always be tempered by logical decision making, narrative sense within the world, and, most crucially, respect for fellow players. I love it when parties as a whole are powerful, but also make sense within the world they inhabit.

My table is not the place for...

Murder hobos, cheaters, griefers, and self-centered "I am the main character" sorts of people. My intent with GMing is to deliver a rich narrative for my players to enjoy as a group, where we all share this common space with the intent of having fun.
