About Bryan

I've been GMing for over thirty years. I've run and played in MSH(FASERIP), DC Heroes, Palladium, Rifts, Champions, a little bit of GURPS, and a bunch of random one-offs. My preferred system is Risus. Allows for fun without a bunch of rules getting in the way.

My favorite system of all Time is

Risus. A game so simple GMs find it intimidating.

People are always surprised when I tell them

I have aphantasia. Which means I have no visual imagination. I describe things I don't see. It's hard to explain.

How Bryan runs games

I am a simple GM. I believe firmly in games being fun. It seems odd to not aim for fun. I describe my GM style this way. On my side of the screen, I am focused on portraying an accurate and consistent world. On your side of the screen, you can be scooby-doo as long as you're engaging with the adventure. I like building worlds that players can run wild in. I lean into player's ideas and do my best to find a way to make them work inside my game world. One of my guidelines is, "I'm not here to limit you."

I once ran a session...

Where the players all decided to search an abandoned military installation for the whole session. There was nothing there but a scared little alien they killed immediately. It was one of my players favorite games of all time. I described emptiness really good.

I prep by

For individual adventures I'm a big fan of writing a few custom d6 tables. Just little things to get things moving or create cool moments. Otherwise, I run games in worlds I built and have confidence enough to let players roam around in.

My games focus on...

Problem solving, investigation, and the occasional brawl. I'm a fan of villains that turn out not that bad and good guys that are out of hand.

Bryan's ideal table

I've played with all types of players over the years. Overly tactical murderers to pleasant folk always willing to give someone a chance. The only players I avoid are the ones that don't want to buy in to the game. If you don't investigate, questions, or engage, I will let your character happily have dinner at home for the rest of the adventure. (I have done this.)
