About me
https://linktr.ee/gnomestones www.gnomestones.fun You can call me Scraw, Sam, or something else. I was raised on old-school Dungeons and Dragons, and carry forward classic principles in all of my games. I have experience running Dungeons and Dragons (ADND, 3.5e, and 5e), Dungeon Crawl Classics, Old School Essentials, and Cairn. I am founder and director of the Gnomestones gaming organization, which publishes TTRPG modules, creates content for youtube and twitch, manages the website www.gnomestones.fun, and hosts game development jams in the greater Olympia area. I am a long time nerd of fantasy, gaming, philosophy, and nature. My table is welcoming, supportive, and fun, and I have high hopes that the stories you will craft with me will be exciting and unforgettable! I have years of experience as an educator, leadership trainer, and therapeutic group facilitator. I apply my group dynamics training to ensure that my table is respectful, encouraging, and to help each player have fun at their own rate and in their own way.
GM Style
At my table, we play the Gnomestones way: πΊοΈ Track your location on the map. You can go where ever you want βοΈ Combat rules are inductive, with potential for custom abilities π Roleplay with funny voices OR π° Describe scene in 3rd person π Emergent stories build on your choices β°οΈ Sessions end on cliffhangers π Play challenging old-school style OR πΆ keep it PG-13 and friendly π Select from several classic modules π₯ Get lost in the homebrew world of Gnomestones π² Roll tons of dice, but only for things that matter π Respect and support each other, let everyone tell their story π₯ Inspired by: Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, The Edge Chronicles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Discworld, history, mythology, and the TTRPGs of countless other creators.

Proficiencies
Players say this GM is great at:
Creativity
Storytelling
World Builder
Scraw is a lively DM and great to interact with. He creates a very in-depth world for players to get lost in, if need be, and provides sufficient room for experimentation and alternate paths, even if the world around us reacts strictly. He occasionally fudges rolls, so that the story can continue, and I think that is wise, as overly strict adherence to the rules can drag the story down or kill off interesting NPCs too early. I think that voice acting is hard as a DM, and with practice, it definitely can become better, but I think that he has the potential to get there. There is obviously for every DM the pressure to balance world lore and detail with expediency, some players like an hour long lecture on world history, and some get bored if you describe a book for a little more than a second, I think that it's a careful balancing act between players and DMs and maintaining a two-way street can allow for smoother and more appealing storytelling. His games also lack unnecessary violence and grimness. You can sense something sinister lurking or waiting to strike you down, but beyond simple dying in combat, or the creeping sensation of enigmatic horror, there isn't anything overly in your face, it's subtle, and I like that subtle creeping sensation. I wish him good luck and hope to provide more information as I play more games with him for longer. :)
