About Spencer
I have been playing games of all kinds my whole life. My first real experience gaming is Pokemon Yellow, and as I grew older, I started to appreciate games that allow for progression, exploration, and told a good story, like Outer Wilds, Baldur's Gate 3, and Payday 2. I started playing TTRPGs in college and was blown away by the amazing community, the wealth of content, and the different approaches to what makes an enjoyable, shared experience. I initially played only 5e, but was introduced to Dungeon Crawl Classics when I was looking for a system to play a campaign inspired by Matt Dinniman's Dungeon Crawler Carl book series. On the personal side, I am a practicing dentist and enjoy reading, eating delicious food, and gaming (both single-player and online competitive games). My friends and family tell me that I have a sharp sense of humor, an unusual attention to detail, and a tendency to obsess over my hobbies. I'm good about sticking to scheduling commitments.

People are always surprised when I tell them
I've done minor surgery on myself and have pictures to prove it! I'd be happy to share if it wouldn't gross you out haha.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Spending time with my family, drinking coffee, practicing dentistry, reading, and playing video games. Some of my favorite games of the last few years are: Baldur's Gate 3, Outer Wilds, Dave the Diver, Brotato, and Deep Rock Galactic.
How Spencer runs games
In my games, you can expect to have freedom to problem solve beyond "big damage make problem go bye-bye," to receive interesting magical items (and I am happy to collaborate with players to see what their characters may find cool), and to have opportunity to role-play beyond just chugging along toward a single plot-goal. You can expect me to come to sessions prepared, and if you express intentions to accomplish something interesting or unique or to play a certain way, I will do my best to realize that within the realm of facilitating a fun game for everyone involved. I like to weave in adaptations of characters from popular media like TV shows and video games. I sometimes supplement my story telling with crude maps and photos from the internet. I don't typically use an online platform like DnDBeyond, but I will certainly make a discord server to organize the campaign and information presented and to facilitate communication even when not actively playing.

My games focus on...
Fun. At the end of the day, there are different things people enjoy from role playing games, whether it's the time spent with friends, the crunchy stats, the role-playing, or participating in a story as it unfolds. As a GM, it's important to facilitate how the players enjoy playing.
Spencer's ideal table
My ideal table is filled with players who are respectful of each other's time, collaborate in their gameplay, understand how to play their characters, and have a good sense of humor.

I think metagaming...
Is fun as long as everyone is on board. Combat can be balanced accordingly, of course!
