When I'm not running games I'm...
Building professional escape rooms, designing video games and escape room puzzles, and teaching courses at my local Makerspace. My wife and daughter are gamers as well, so if I'm not running games then I'm probably playing something with them.
How GM Ant runs games
My GM style focuses on keeping players immersed in the story. Whether it's a tactical game like Pathfinder or a more narrative game like Vampire or Vaesen, I try to make my games feel like the characters are driving the action and the rules are as transparent as possible. Although that sounds like I'm one to hand-wave off or homebrew rules, I'm definitely not, I just present the game in a way that players feel more like they're just narrating their characters and the rules happen naturally. I've gamed with hundreds of new or inexperienced players in my time as a RPG organizer and found that this method of GMing is great for new players and seasoned veterans.

I prep by
spending hours knowing the adventure and world around it. I'm often researching lore and history of a particular adventure, not so that I can dump that knowledge on a player but because when a player asks a random NPC "Hey, what's that place over there"? I want that NPC to have a real world answer.
My games focus on...
ensuring that players are having fun and being immersed in the world. Whether it's a combat-heavy dungeon crawl or roleplaying focused social game, I make sure that players feel like they're part of a living world so that their choices and even inaction have an impact on the story.
GM Ant's ideal table
My ideal table has players that are excited to go on adventures together. I'll take someone that's eager to have fun over someone that knows the whole rulebook every single time. Players at my idea table get involved with the story and characters, and work together to overcome challenges.

I love it when a player
allows their character to make mistakes. Picks a fight they can't win, charges down a corridor that's probably trapped, eats a delicious pastry that's almost certainly just fine. Those sorts of things make characters real and often lead to stories told to friends for years to come.
