About GM Val

Hi! I'm Val, I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs on and off for nearly 20 years. While I’ve taken breaks along the way, I always find my way back—because nothing compares to the creativity and connection of shared storytelling. I’m a newer GM, having run three campaigns so far—one of which I’m currently running: Vecna: Eve of Ruin. Stepping into the GM role has been incredibly rewarding, and with the launch of Daggerheart, I’m excited to take the leap and focus exclusively on this system moving forward. Daggerheart’s blend of narrative freedom, emotional depth, and collaborative storytelling fits perfectly with the kind of games I love to run. Whether you’re brand new to RPGs or a longtime player curious about something new, I aim to create a welcoming table where your character’s story truly matters. Let’s roll some dice and tell something unforgettable together!

I became a GM because

I had moved. My new friends didn't know how to play D&D, so I taught them the basics and how to get started with roleplaying.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Fair, flexible, thoughtful.

When I'm not running games I'm...

I enjoy playing video games with my kids or wargames with my wife.

How GM Val runs games

Players should expect to be a part of the storytelling. and not so much of just a spectator. i will always be there to assist and provide suggestions for actions, or even hint at things that should be noticed. But where they go is completely up to them. we

communicating. We will discuss the perception of rules, and if there is a conflict, we will use the perception that aligns with the story best.

My games focus on...

colaboration. We will be telling a story together. You, the player, will directly affect the narrative and aid in steering the story. We will have a bit of combat. Role play will also be involved in it. You will describe your attacks or actions. Hope and fear will decide your outcome.

Rules are...

flexible.

GM Val's ideal table

My ideal table would be a mix of experiences. From "This is my first game" to "I played since beta." A casual "chill" group of players that aim to have some fun, meet people, tell good stories, and roll some dice.

I love it when a player

thinks outside the box.

I think min/maxing...

While I min/max in videogames. I try not to do it in TTRPGs. It sometimes gets in the way of gameplay. But as long as players don't slow things down for the rest of the table, feel free to min/max to your heart's content.

My perfect party mix is

multiple levels of experience. from the first Tabletop game ever to a 20-year vet.
