About GM Mike
I played my first RPG back in the mid-80s with AD&D. After a few decades working and raising a family, I was re-introduced to D&D when my adult children asked to learn D&D during the Pandemic and after watching Stranger Things. So I relearned D&D and started family sessions as their GM. I fell back in love with roleplaying and wanted to play as a player as well. I found StartPlaying and played as many one-shots as I could fit into my schedule. I've since retired, expanded the Family sessions to Friends & Family, joined Startplaying campaigns instead of one-shots. I now run games for others

How GM Mike runs games
I love to introduce new players of any age to roleplaying, sharing my excitement for roleplaying, problem-solving, and strategy. Rules are important, but not my primary focus. I am much more interested in collaborative story telling and role-play. I want my players to have fun, even with darker storylines or in heavy combat, using humor to lighten the mood and build comradery at the table.
GM Mike's ideal table
I like games to be fun, employing humor even when things get dark and tense. I think humor helps to build comradery at the table. I look for players who are there to have a good time, tell a great story, and build connections, even if for only a few hours.
