About Gideon

Hi I'm Gideon. I'm a 28 year-old Handyman from Middle Georgia with proficiency in more skills than a Human (Variant) Rogue. With me as your GM, you'll get a game featuring an eclectic mix of pop-culture and historical inspirations. You'll find me passionate about story and unflinchingly fair in my rulings. NPCs in my sessions become fully inhabited and alive within their the role in the story. Growing up surrounded by scholars and professors of English, theater, literature, film, and music, resulted in a love for artistic presentation being thoroughly part of my being. It's no mystery how a mother who played Bilbo Baggins in university theater, and a father who wonders how Stranger Things perfectly mimicked the vibe of his 80s childhood in rural Georgia, gave birth to me. I do not use AI, ever.

I got started GMing...

On my 16th birthday. I ran an Elder Scrolls homebrew for D&D 3.0. It was a wild mess of custom magic items and super broken racial powers. But wildest of all my father's character: straw hat wearing, Argonian Wizard, Watelteklethru Achoodoo: Champion of Sheogorath, Deadric Prince of Madness.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working part-time as a retail associate at an urban ACE Hardware. I love it. I learn a lot of neat stuff from people in the trades. Otherwise, I could be gaming, baking, going on adventures with friends, or watching some interesting drama series you've probably never heard of.

How Gideon runs games

My style is focused mostly on presentation. I have pre-written "cinematic" narration to important scenes, or new locations, or sometimes whatever the villains are doing off-camera. If I can make you excited to RP in the world with these, they've done their job. Creating memorable NPCs is a love of mine as well. I like my worlds to feel lived-in, so I apply what I learned in Sociology 1101 to my worldbuilding. What is the status-quo? What are the cultural taboos? How does religion affect the culture? Etcetera, etcetera. The result of which, is that I give myself context to roleplay my NPCs like they really live there. They care about what's going on, because it affects their lives.

When it comes to voices

I aim for intonation and personality, first. My natural pitch and accent are deep and a bit on the gravelly side, but that doesn't scare me away from doing femme voices and personalities. Sometimes I'll invent accents and "incomplete conlangs", to keep things fresh.
